Timini Egbuson Finds Blessing in Rejection

Timini Egbuson Proudly Declares Self As Africa’s Biggest Actor

Timini Egbuson

Popular Nollywood actor Timini Egbuson has revealed that he almost represented Nigeria on the Big Brother Africa platform.

He recently revealed that he was very close to representing the country on the reality show, but he was dropped eventually.

Timini shared that the painful setback turned out to be a blessing because he was cast in the popular TV series MTV Shuga Naija the same year.

According to him, he actually reached the stage of organizers asking potential housemates to park their bags and wait to be called to join the show.

Insisting that he has no regrets, he stated that looking at the trajectory of his career now, Nollywood is where he is ordained by God to be.

“I have learnt that sometimes, lost opportunities could be a blessing. I have so many colleagues that have gotten opportunities that I wanted, I’ve gotten opportunities that people wanted as well. But when I look at the trajectory of my career, some of those things that I might have gotten would have completely derailed me from where I am today. And I believe that where I am today is where I am ordained by God to be.

I was supposed to be on Big Brother Africa some years ago, it was about five of us, we’ve done all the necessary things and they asked us to pack our bags and wait to be called to join the show. I even hired someone to manage my social media but they didn’t pick me. I think Tayo went, I’m not sure who went that year.”

Timini further noted that if he was picked to be on Big Brother, his hype in the entertainment industry would have gone down after some years.

“But that was the year that I did MTV Shuga and MTV Shuga is what launched my career to who I am today. If I had gone on Big Brother, the hype would have gone down by now or I might not have made it in the entertainment industry. So, sometimes, when you lose opportunities, you just have to count it as a blessing, dust your feet and keep on moving. That’s one hard lesson I have learnt.”

The Nollywood actor disclosed that he is not a womaniser.

According to the 38-year-old actor, he has been “technically single” for the past two to three years and has been more focused on his career than any romantic entanglement.

“A lot of people assume that I’m a womaniser. But I’m not. In the past two, three years, Nollywood has taken over my life in a way that there’s no room, except you will be the most unserious [to womanise].”

Timini Egbuson

He explained that his typical day ends late on movie sets, and by the time he gets home, he is too tired to even keep up conversations, let alone date multiple women. “I admire my friends who can manage multiple relationships, but that life isn’t for me,” he added.

“I even wonder how some of my friends who womanise, date four or five girls simultaneously, have time to attend to all of them. Because from being on set all day to getting back tired at 11 p.m., I will now start chatting a lady? I don’t have the capacity for that. So, I’m not in the street as people may think I am.”

Egbuson, who is known for his “lover boy” roles in films like ‘Big Love’ and ‘Elevator Baby’, said he understands why the public often sees him as a “bad boy,” but he insists the image is far from reality. “I find it entertaining, but that’s not my real life,” he said.

Over the years, Timini has been linked to several female celebrities in and outside Nollywood, including Lydia Balogun, Sharon Ooja, Dorcas Fapson, and Bimbo Ademoye. His relationship with Lydia made headlines in 2021 due to their age difference, which sparked online drama.

Timini later addressed the matter, saying the relationship was mutual and both parties shared the blame.
