Journalist Speaks on Agradaa’s Court Appearance

Agradaa’s Lawyer Appeals 15-Year Sentence

Agradaa

A Ghanaian journalist has shared an insight into the well-being of embattled televangelist Agradaa, also known as Mama Pat, following her recent court appearance.

According to a reporter, who was present at the Accra High Court, the founder of the Heaven Way Champion International church’s skin colour had changed since her imprisonment, and she now looked much darker.

The journalist claimed that the embattled televangelist, who was almost fully covered to hide her identity, was brought into the courtroom through a tunnel.

She noted that the move to transport evangelist Agradaa into the courtroom via the tunnel was part of the regular protocols prison officials followed in tense cases.

“If you look at the pictures we saw of her on TV, truth be told, personally, when I saw Mama Pat, whom everyone knows has a fair complexion, in court today, I realised that her skin colour was not the same. This gives you an insight into prison life. When she entered the court, she wore a white head scarf, a white top, a long black skirt, a nose mask, and glasses. She was brought into the court through a tunnel.”

“I know some people will ask questions about it, but she is not the only one who has been brought to court that way. There is a tunnel for prison officials to use, but most time, they don’t use it. They normally use the tunnel when there is tension.”

The reporter noted that people sitting in the courtroom were surprised by the rapid change in Agradaa’s physical appearance after the judge ordered her to remove her nose mask to prove her identity.

The journalist added that the imprisoned televangelist was calm and warm throughout her appearance at the Accra High Court.

Netizens reacted to the journalist’s remarks about Agradaa.

“Nana Asiamah wey dey house koraa ayɛ tuntum na agra prisoner. 😂”

Eddy MicroDorsty

“As a prisoner, what does she need a fair skin colour for?🙄 The peace of mind that we’ve gotten in this country and on social media since Agradaa was jailed. Justice must not always favour the rich in our societies alone. ☹☹ .”

The Ghanaian televangelist Patricia Asiedua appeared before the court in her ongoing legal case with Osofo Appiah Biblical.

Reports indicated that the embattled evangelist was seeking a plea bargain agreement with Attorney General Dominic Akuritinga Ayine in the case.

The judge presiding over the case reportedly adjourned the case, with both parties set to reappear in court on Tuesday, October 21, 2025.

The newest development comes weeks after the court ordered Agradaa to be brought from Nsawam Prison to appear for a final ruling in an ongoing case filed by Appiah Biblical.

The founder of the Heaven Way Champion International church and two other individuals have been accused of allegedly breaching the Cybersecurity Act. They were also charged for sharing explicit images of the Prophet.

Netizens reacted as Agradaa seeks a plea bargain agreement with the Attorney General.

“I thought she was doing woman power? 😂😂.”

“Why must you people visit the prison to hear what she has to say? Can’t you people allow her to serve her sentence in peace?”

“Agradaa baako, problems bebree 😂.”

mayfairgabby

“That’s what she should have done in the other cases. Resolve the case with the prosecution without a full trial. I am sure she thought initially they were playing.”
