Shatta Wale Blasts Former IGP’s Inaction

Shatta Wale and former IGP Dampare

Ghanaian dancehall sensation Shatta Wale has launched a scathing critique against the former Inspector General of Police (IGP), accusing him of prioritizing social media clout over impartial law enforcement.

The remarks come in the wake of the swift arrest of Ghanaian Prophet D.Y. Donkor, who recently issued controversial prophetic declarations predicting misfortune for the musician.

In a post on social media, Shatta Wale, real name Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., questioned the motives behind the rapid police action against Donkor, suggesting that the former IGP’s active presence on social media platforms influenced his decisions. “I’ve never seen an IGP that likes social media like the former IGP,” Shatta Wale said.

“He was seeing himself as a celebrity. That’s not the job of a police chief. His job is to serve and protect, not to trend on Twitter.”

The controversy began earlier this week when Prophet D.Y. Donkor appeared on a religious program claiming that the dancehall artist would face dire consequences, including death, unless he repented.

The statements sparked public outrage, leading to Donkor’s arrest by the police within 48 hours on charges of making malicious prophecies likely to incite public fear.

While many have praised the swift action as a defense of citizens’ rights, Shatta Wale expressed skepticism, implying that the former IGP may have used the case to boost his public image.

The former IGP, whose tenure was marked by a highly visible social media presence, has not responded to the comments.

However, the current acting IGP reaffirmed the police’s commitment to upholding the law without bias, stating that Donkor’s arrest was based on credible legal grounds and public safety concerns.

Legal experts have noted that under Ghanaian law, making threats or spreading false prophecies with the intent to cause alarm can be punishable offenses.

Nonetheless, Shatta Wale’s comments have ignited a broader debate about celebrity influence, police accountability, and the role of social media in governance.

As the discussion unfolds, the musician has called for equal treatment under the law, urging authorities to apply the same urgency to all citizens’ cases, famous or not.

Shatta Wale Opens Up About Finding Real Love

Maali and Shatta Wale

Dancehall King Shatta Wale is known for his bold lyrics, flashy lifestyle, and endless controversies — but in a rare emotional post on Snapchat, the Shatta Movement boss shared a side of himself fans don’t often see: the story of a woman who loved him without asking for anything in return.

“I met a lot of girls before Maali,” he wrote. “But all of them came with problems, talks, and family problems. Anytime they came to me, it was for money after sex. But Maali was different.”

According to Shatta Wale, even after offering her money several times, she refused. At first, it puzzled him, but soon, he realized her intentions were pure. She wasn’t after his fame or fortune; she was after his heart.

“Only for me to know she had plans of settling down. Today, she has everything she needed as a young girl, and she is loving and living her dream life.”

In an industry where love is often tangled with fame and money, the dancehall artist’s story reminds individuals that true loyalty still exists, and sometimes, love shows up when one least expects it, not with demands, but with peace.

Could Maali be the one to finally calm Shatta’s storm? Time will tell. But for now, fans are just happy to see a softer side of the SM boss — and maybe, just maybe, a real love story unfolding.
