The Bank Hospital has officially responded to growing public concerns and misinformation surrounding the death of Ghanaian music legend Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, who passed away at the facility.
In a statement released, the hospital expressed deep sorrow over the loss of the celebrated highlife musician, describing his passing as a moment of national grief.
“The Bank Hospital joins the nation in mourning the loss of music legend Charles Kwadwo Fosu, affectionately known as Daddy Lumba. Our hearts go out to his family, loved ones, the government, and fans around the world during this time of sorrow.”
The statement
The hospital’s statement comes in the wake of social media claims, particularly by outspoken media personality Valentina Nana Agyeiwaa, also known as Afia Schwarzenegger, alleging that there had been a breach of the legend’s medical confidentiality.
Addressing the claims directly, the hospital stressed that no such breach occurred. “We wish to clarify: no breach of Mr. Fosu’s medical privacy or confidentiality occurred,” the statement noted. “His care was handled with professionalism, dignity, and strict confidentiality.”
The management of The Bank Hospital also emphasized that the late musician’s family was fully involved in all aspects of his treatment and medical decisions. “In every step of his care, his family was informed and involved. We maintained the highest level of discretion and ethical conduct throughout,” the hospital stated.

As part of its commitment to upholding trust and integrity, the hospital revealed that it is currently conducting a formal review of all events leading up to and following Daddy Lumba’s passing.
“As one of Africa’s leading private healthcare institutions, The Bank Hospital remains committed to the highest ethical standards. A formal review of all events before, during, and after his care is underway to ensure continual improvement.”
The statement
The hospital concluded by urging the public and media outlets to refrain from spreading unverified claims and instead rely on credible sources for accurate information.
Daddy Lumba was a towering figure in Ghana’s music industry, credited with revolutionizing highlife music and influencing multiple generations of artists. His passing has left a void in the hearts of millions across Ghana and beyond.
