Ghana’s downstream petroleum sector has entered a new era with the official rebranding of Engen Ghana as MISA Energy Ghana Limited.
The announcement was made at a high-profile launch event in Accra, where industry leaders and government officials gathered to mark what has been described as a defining transformation for one of the country’s most recognisable energy brands.
Speaking at the launch, Chief Executive Officer of MISA Energy, Mr. Brent Nartey, said the rebrand is more than a change of name, it is a strategic repositioning aimed at deepening the company’s identity as a distinctly African brand built on Ghanaian leadership and guided by world-class standards.

“MISA Energy is more than a new name; it reflects who we are becoming: more innovative, more customer-focused, and dedicated to fuelling our customers’ dreams while always putting them first.”
Mr. Brent Nartey, Chief Executive Officer of MISA Energy
Mr. Nartey iterated the company’s refreshed mission to combine innovation and local insight with excellence in service delivery.
The rebranding represents a broader shift in focus toward sustainable growth, enhanced customer engagement, and operational excellence in a competitive and evolving energy landscape.
MISA Energy’s new identity is anchored on a renewed commitment to its core values: Integrity, Passion, Ownership, Winning Mindset, Excellence, and Respect.
Green Transition Spurs Innovation

Representing the Deputy Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Richard Gyan-Mensah, was Ing. Sulemana Abubakari, Acting Director of Power, who praised the company’s leadership for its bold step and urged them to go beyond cosmetic changes.
“The success of the rebrand would depend on how well MISA Energy translates its new identity into tangible outcomes, particularly in the areas of innovation, service excellence, and productivity.”
Ing. Sulemana Abubakari, Acting Director of Power
In the same spirit, Abubakari encouraged other oil marketing companies to align themselves with Ghana’s national green transition strategy.
He highlighted the importance of strategic partnerships and sustainability-focused business models that would not only ensure long-term profitability but also enhance the country’s energy resilience and environmental responsibility.

Adding his voice to the occasion, Godwin Edudzi Tameklo, Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), issued a challenge to MISA Energy to make premium service delivery the hallmark of its operations.
“In an increasingly competitive downstream market, customer expectations are higher than ever, and success will depend largely on the quality of experience delivered at every service point.”
Godwin Edudzi Tameklo, Chief Executive Officer of NPA
Mr. Tameklo urged MISA Energy to ensure that its frontline staff fully embody the values and promises of the new brand in every customer interaction, stressing that brand credibility is earned through consistency, reliability, and responsiveness on the ground.
MISA Energy Embraces Transformation

Also present at the event was Dr. Riverson Oppong, CEO of the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC), who described the launch as a “defining moment of renewal” for the company.
He observed that rebranding offers a unique opportunity not only to refresh market presence but also to reconnect with customers and reinvigorate internal culture.
“A new identity is more than cosmetic; it’s an opportunity to re-enter your purpose, re-energise your team, and reconnect with your customers and partners. MISA must lead with relevance, trust, and innovation.”
Dr. Riverson Oppong, CEO of COMAC
As MISA Energy steps into this new phase, its leadership team has articulated a clear ambition: to lead the transformation of Ghana’s downstream petroleum sector through innovation, sustainability, and customer-focused solutions.
With renewed purpose and a sharpened strategy, the company is positioning itself to be at the forefront of Africa’s evolving energy future.
The rebrand is also timely, aligning with broader industry calls for more responsive, future-ready energy companies capable of navigating the dual pressures of market competition and global sustainability demands.
By leveraging local leadership and maintaining adherence to global best practices, MISA Energy is setting a precedent for other players in the sector to follow.
