Piesie Esther Encourages Colleagues To Resist Conformity

Lucrative Sponsorship Is A Thorny Matter – Piesie Esther

Renowned Gospel Musician, Piesie Esther

Award-winning Gospel musician Piesie Esther has encouraged her colleagues, especially the female ones, to resist the pressure to conform to a narrow, unglamorous standard to be seen as godly.

She sees too many of them hiding their true selves and losing confidence, terrified of public judgment. However, she says it is about time they stopped hiding because God loves glamour.

In an interview, the ‘Wayε Me Yie’ star clarified that this isn’t about compromising the message, but amplifying it through a more engaging presentation.

She believes that as long as God remains at the centre, looking your best isn’t vanity—it’s strategy. “We don’t have to be plain to be holy. The God we represent appreciates good things, so we should always present ourselves looking our best,” she said.

“Truthfully, when you are conveying a good message, people won’t even be distracted by your looks,” she asserted, making the case that investing in your appearance can be a vital part of your ministry.

“Times have changed. There is social media and all other platforms that project you beyond your country, and so we should be careful not to look ‘colo’ just because we want to be seen as godly. I perfectly understand that we aren’t in competition with secular artistes, but they are very particular with branding, and I think we can equally look in that direction.”

Piesie Esther’s comments come amid growing concerns about the direction of Gospel music. Some Gospel artists have been accused of prioritising fame and material success over spiritual messages.

She clarified that her advocacy for branding goes beyond physical appearance, focusing on strategic measures to build a sustainable and thriving career.

“The Piesie Esther during ‘Ziba Beko’ days is not the same Piesie Esther in the ‘Waye Me Yie’ time, and everyone can tell. There’s been a lot of growth, and the results are showing. Presently, it’s not just about releasing songs. How are you engaging your listeners on social media and strengthening the artist-fan bond? What are you doing to attract corporate Ghana to sponsor your event or sign you on as a brand ambassador?

“I’m the brand ambassador for Flora Tissues. Do you think they would have signed me on if I didn’t put my home (career) in good shape? And that is the branding I’m talking about. We can do all these things and still focus on the spiritual mandate. Rebranding and ministry should complement each other.”

Piesie Esther revealed she’s faced criticism on social media, with some accusing her of backsliding, but she’s learned to ignore negative comments. “Sometimes, people can be harsh. But I have decided to let such things slide and instead stay committed to my purpose,” she noted.

She also announced the release of a new song, ‘Nyame Ye’ (God is Good), which she describes as a heartfelt celebration of God’s unchanging goodness and mercy. “This song is very dear to me because it speaks to one truth that never changes: God is good. His love is unchanging, His mercy is endless, and His faithfulness has no limits,” she added.

The gospel musician blessed her fans with a brand-new song titled “Nyame Y3.”

“Nyame Ye,” which translates to “God is Good,” is a mid-tempo gospel tune that speaks about the essence of praising God for his goodness and kindness.

“Nyame Y3” isn’t just a song; it’s a production powerhouse. Iconic Highlife star and producer Kuami Eugene lends his expertise to the sound, while the well-directed video showcases the talent of director Skyweb.

The video features breathtaking scenery that harmonises with the puissant lyrics, creating a truly magnificent visual experience.

Piesie Esther is no stranger to the spotlight. The multi-award-winning songstress has become a household name since she entered the music scene more than a decade ago, belting out hits like “Mo” and “Way3 Me yie.”

“Nyame Y3” is a modern gospel masterpiece with all the makings of a smash hit. It has the potential to dominate the airwaves and win over fans across the globe, becoming a timeless song that transcends borders.
