New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Kennedy Agyapong, has declared that the party recognises his readiness to become president following his vetting in Accra on Tuesday, September 23, 2025.
Speaking to the media shortly after his session, the outspoken politician and businessman expressed satisfaction with the process and insisted that his experience and record make him fit to lead both the NPP and the nation.
“I believe I answered all the questions and they know I’m ready to be president of this country,” Agyapong stated, adding that he went into the room fully prepared to face the vetting panel and believed he had demonstrated his competence.
According to Agyapong, the vetting team placed strong emphasis on his reasons for seeking the presidency and his vision for the future of Ghana. He explained that he had outlined specific solutions to some of the country’s challenges, which he said reflected both his personal commitment and his understanding of the nation’s pressing issues.
“They also really wanted to know my vision for the party. So I enumerated a couple of points on how I’m going to address some problems,” Agyapong said, explaining that his answers highlighted a practical roadmap aimed at ensuring sustainable progress for Ghana while reinforcing the values of the NPP.

The former Assin Central legislator emphasised that the panel’s approach was professional and respectful, noting that while the questions were direct and relevant, they were not intended to create hostility.
“They didn’t antagonise me because they know my potential already. But they asked tangible and reasonable questions,” he added, suggesting that his longstanding relationship with the party and his service over the years had shaped the atmosphere of the vetting, allowing him to engage freely with the panel.
Deep Roots in the Party
Kennedy Agyapong further stressed his deep loyalty to the NPP, arguing that his long-term dedication to the party and vast experience working within the party structure had already demonstrated his suitability for leadership.
He maintained that his record within the party and his contributions to its growth have made him one of the most credible figures in the race for its flag-bearership and eventually presidential race in 2028.

According to him, party loyalty and experience formed a significant part of his response during the vetting.
Kennedy Agyapong is considered one of the front-runners in the NPP’s internal contest as the party sets its sights on the 2028 general elections. His candidacy has attracted considerable attention because of his reputation as a bold speaker and his record as both a businessman and a legislator.
The vetting was a crucial step for aspirants hoping to secure the flagbearer position, and Agyapong’s confidence following the session signals his determination to push forward in the campaign and boosts his support base.
With the NPP’s selection process underway, the party’s leadership is expected to play a decisive role in shaping the direction of the competition. For Agyapong, the outcome of the vetting was an affirmation of his preparedness to lead.
His insistence that the party “knows” he is ready reflects his belief that both his political history and personal vision place him in a strong position for the months ahead. As the NPP continues its internal processes, Kennedy Agyapong’s performance at the vetting adds momentum to his flagbearer bid.

His confidence underscores his ambition to translate his years of service to the party into a national mandate as president in 2028.
