StarLife Assurance, Ghana’s leading indigenous life insurance company, has marked its 20th anniversary in a remarkable fashion by giving back to the very people at the heart of its success: its clients.
As part of activities to commemorate its two-decade milestone and this year’s Customer Service Week celebration, the company organised a free nationwide health screening exercise across several of its branches.
The initiative, held under the theme of wellness and gratitude, reflects StarLife’s commitment to ensuring that its protection of lives extends beyond insurance policies into the physical well-being of its customers. The event was designed to promote preventive healthcare and encourage clients to make healthy living a daily priority.
The health screening exercise was not limited to the company’s headquarters in Accra. It extended to key branch locations in Kumasi, Takoradi, Cape Coast, Koforidua, Sunyani, Ho, and Tema—making it a truly nationwide affair. The initiative was one of the key highlights of the company’s 20th-anniversary celebrations, which coincided with the globally observed Customer Service Week in October.
More than 400 participants benefited from the initiative, which offered an array of medical services. Clients were screened for blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol levels, while others received BMI measurements, fasting blood glucose checks, and general medical consultations. In addition, participants were provided with health education on disease prevention and the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
The health outreach created an atmosphere of care and engagement, with many attendees expressing deep appreciation for the thoughtful gesture. For many, the initiative was not just about medical checkups but a reaffirmation of the company’s genuine concern for their well-being.
Health Beyond Policies
Speaking at the event in Accra, Chief Operations Officer of StarLife Assurance, Bernice Quainoo, underscored the motivation behind the exercise, linking it to the company’s enduring mission of protecting lives in every sense of the word.
“As we celebrate two decades of excellence in life assurance, we recognise that true protection extends beyond policies. Health is central to the lives we insure, and this initiative is our way of giving back and showing genuine care for our clients’ well-being.”

Her remarks resonated strongly with participants and staff alike, as they highlighted the company’s people-first philosophy and holistic approach to life assurance. By recognising that a client’s health directly affects their quality of life and future, StarLife Assurance continues to reinforce its brand promise—“Protecting Lives, Securing Futures.”

Customer Service Week, celebrated annually in the first week of October, is a global event that recognises the vital role customer service plays in sustaining businesses and enhancing client relationships. For StarLife Assurance, this year’s observance took on extra significance as it coincided with the company’s 20th anniversary—a major milestone in Ghana’s life insurance landscape.
Throughout the week, the company’s branches buzzed with excitement, hosting not only the health screenings but also customer appreciation activities and employee engagement programmes. Staff members were commended for their dedication to providing exceptional service, while clients received tokens of appreciation and took part in interactive health education sessions.
By merging Customer Service Week with its anniversary celebration, StarLife effectively bridged its legacy of service with its forward-looking vision of client wellness and satisfaction.
Clients Laud the Initiative
Across the participating branches, clients expressed gratitude for the company’s thoughtful initiative. Many described the experience as timely and impactful, especially given the growing awareness of the importance of preventive healthcare in Ghana.
Some participants noted that the free health screenings helped them uncover health concerns they were unaware of, allowing them to seek early medical intervention. Others commended StarLife for extending such initiatives beyond the capital to regional branches, ensuring inclusivity and access for clients across the country.
A client in Kumasi remarked, “This is the kind of care we hope to see from all companies. StarLife has shown that it truly cares about our lives, not just our premiums.” Such feedback reflects the positive public perception of StarLife’s customer-centric philosophy and its growing reputation as a socially responsible insurer.
Over the past two decades, StarLife Assurance has built a strong reputation as one of Ghana’s most trusted life insurance companies. Through innovation, professionalism, and a deep understanding of its clients’ needs, the company has grown into a symbol of reliability and compassion in the insurance industry.
The nationwide health screening is the latest demonstration of this commitment—illustrating how StarLife continues to evolve beyond traditional insurance boundaries to touch the lives of its clients in meaningful ways. The company’s leadership has consistently emphasised the integration of wellness, education, and financial protection as core pillars of its brand identity.
By promoting healthy living and preventive care, StarLife ensures that its clients not only enjoy financial security but also lead healthier, more fulfilling lives.
As StarLife Assurance celebrates its 20th anniversary, the company stands at the crossroads of legacy and innovation—drawing from its rich history while embracing the future of life assurance with renewed purpose. With Ghana’s insurance sector becoming increasingly competitive, StarLife’s client-first strategy and focus on wellness initiatives set it apart as a brand that truly understands the needs of its people.
