MTN Mobile Money (MoMo) has brought its three-month “Me Nsa Aka” promotion to a close, crowning five customers with major cash prizes and reinforcing the company’s drive to promote safer, app-based digital transactions.

The promotion, which ran from September 15 to December 15, 2025, rewarded customers who consistently used the MoMo App for a wide range of financial transactions, culminating in a public award ceremony at the Kaneshie Market in Accra.

The highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of the grand prize of GH₵100,000 to Frank Beecham, who emerged as the overall winner based on the total value of his transactions during the promotional period. Standing before traders, market users, and invited guests, Beecham described his initial disbelief when he received the call informing him of his win.

He said he only became convinced after carefully checking the number and confirming it was MTN Mobile Money’s official contact. According to him, the prize represents an opportunity to reinvest, revealing plans to acquire additional MTN shares with the money.

In addition to the overall winner, four other customers were recognised as monthly top performers. Dorothy Esenam received GH₵50,000, Hui Ling took home GH₵30,000, while Gideon Obeng and Joseph Kofi Abavor each received GH₵10,000.

The winners were selected based on the cumulative value of their eligible transactions carried out on the MoMo App over the three-month period, a criterion designed to reward consistent and active use rather than chance alone.

Dorothy Esenam, visibly emotional as she received her cheque, said the reality of winning only sank in at the ceremony. She described holding the cheque as a moment she would not forget, adding that she intended to share the money among family members and friends.

For Joseph Kofi Abavor, who also received GH₵10,000, the promotion provided a boost to his confidence in digital finance. He said he planned to channel his winnings into buying more MTN shares, viewing the reward as both recognition and an investment opportunity.

The “Me Nsa Aka” promotion was launched by MobileMoney Ltd as part of a strategic effort to encourage customers to migrate from the traditional USSD platform to the MoMo App. By doing so, MTN aims to provide users with a more secure, convenient, and feature-rich digital financial experience.

Automatic Qualifications

Throughout the promotion, customers automatically qualified for draws by conducting transactions on the app, without any additional registration process. Eligible transactions spanned a broad spectrum of everyday financial activities.

These included peer-to-peer transfers within the MoMo network and across other mobile money networks, QR code payments, MoMo Pay merchant transactions, and payments on aggregator platforms.

Customers also qualified through airtime and data purchases, payment of utility bills, television subscriptions, and the use of digital financial products such as investments, insurance, and savings.

In addition to the headline prizes, the promotion offered daily, weekly, and monthly rewards, ensuring that participants had multiple chances to benefit over the three-month period.

Beyond rewarding usage, MTN Mobile Money placed strong emphasis on fraud awareness throughout the campaign. Customers were repeatedly reminded that the only official number used to contact winners was 0244300000.

MTN officials stressed that customers should never share their MoMo PIN or one-time password with anyone, warning that fraudsters often exploit promotional periods to deceive unsuspecting users.

This messaging was reinforced at the closing ceremony, reflecting the company’s broader commitment to safeguarding customer funds as digital transactions continue to rise nationwide.

Connect to MoMo App

Speaking at the event, Senior Manager for Fintech Channels at MTN, Abdul-Majeed Rufai, encouraged customers who have not yet adopted the MoMo App to do so in anticipation of future promotions.

He said the success of the “Me Nsa Aka” campaign demonstrated how everyday transactions could translate into meaningful rewards when customers fully embrace the app. He also reiterated the importance of vigilance, urging users to remain alert to fraudsters and to rely only on official MTN communication channels.

The ceremony was attended by representatives from the National Lottery Authority, underscoring regulatory oversight and transparency in the conduct of the promotion.

Among them was the NLA Accounts Manager for MTN/MobileMoney Ltd, Ms. Priscilla Akuamoah, whose presence added an additional layer of credibility to the prize presentation process.

As the curtains fell on the 2025 edition of the “Me Nsa Aka” promo, winners and organisers alike described it as a rewarding experience that delivered real value to customers.

For many participants, the promotion not only offered the chance to win cash prizes but also highlighted the practical benefits of embracing digital financial tools in everyday life.

The conclusion of the “Me Nsa Aka” promotion highlighted the growing role of mobile money apps in Ghana’s financial ecosystem and MTN’s strategy of combining incentives, education, and security awareness to deepen digital adoption. For the winners, the campaign ended with tangible rewards.

For MTN Mobile Money, it marked another step in shaping customer behaviour toward safer, app-based financial transactions, with expectations already building for the next promotional cycle.
