Nyantakyi Touts Agyapong’s Cross-Party Appeal Ahead Of NPP Primary

Nyantakyi Touts Agyapong’s Cross-Party Appeal Ahead Of NPP Primary

Kwesi Nyantakyi, Kennedy Agyapong’s Campaign Team Member

Kwesi Nyantakyi, a key member of Kennedy Agyapong’s campaign team, has positioned the businessman-politician as the most electable candidate in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) ahead of the crucial flagbearer contest.

Speaking in an interview, Mr. Nyantakyi argued that Agyapong’s political brand has transcended traditional partisan boundaries, offering the NPP its best chance of retaining power in the 2028 general elections. According to him, Agyapong’s unique resonance with the grassroots and opposition supporters makes him the definitive frontrunner in the race to lead the party.

“Kennedy Agyapong is one particular politician in Ghana whose popularity knows no bounds. There are people in other political parties, such as the NDC, CPP and others, who admire and support him and are even asking the NPP to present him as its candidate so they can vote for him. This cuts across the political divide and places him in a very unique position for the 2028 elections”

This perceived bridge-building capability is being marketed as a strategic asset that would allow the NPP to pull votes from traditional opposition strongholds, thereby securing a decisive victory in the general polls.

Mr. Nyantakyi described Agyapong’s leadership style as “fearless and courageous,” noting that his unconventional approach to governance and public discourse has earned him a massive following among ordinary Ghanaians.

He noted that the campaign has intensified its outreach in markets, lorry stations, and churches, where the demand for a Kennedy Agyapong presidency is most vocal. By focusing on bread-and-butter issues such as the cost of living, job creation, and a relentless anti-corruption stance, Agyapong has aligned his messaging with the immediate concerns of the electorate.

The campaign team member added that Agyapong’s popularity is not merely a result of his wealth or media presence, but rather his perceived authenticity. In an era where voters are increasingly skeptical of traditional political rhetoric, Agyapong’s bluntness is seen as a refreshing alternative.

Mr. Nyantakyi maintained that this “man of the people” persona is the primary driver of his electability, setting him apart from other contenders who may be viewed as more establishment-aligned.

Countdown to January 31

As the NPP prepares to head to the polls on Saturday, January 31, 2026, the pressure is mounting on delegates to choose a candidate who can withstand the rigors of a general election campaign.

Mr. Nyantakyi expressed absolute confidence that the party’s delegates will prioritize electability over internal party tradition, reiterating that the current political climate favors a candidate who can attract neutral and opposition voters, a feat he believes only Agyapong can achieve.

According to Mr. Nyantakyi, the campaign’s confidence is bolstered by what they describe as a nationwide groundswell of support.

By framing Agyapong as the candidate that the opposition fears most but their supporters admire most, the campaign team is attempting to make a pragmatic case for his candidacy. The strategy is to convince delegates that a vote for Agyapong is the most secure path to maintaining the NPP’s executive mandate.

“I am very hopeful that on that Saturday, the delegates of the NPP will elect him as the flagbearer so that he can lead the party into the 2028 election and emerge victorious. We are confident that the wisdom of the delegates will reflect the desires of the broader Ghanaian population who want a leader they can trust”

With only weeks remaining until the internal election, the rhetoric from the Agyapong camp suggests a no-holds-barred approach to the final stretch.

Whether this cross-party popularity will translate into a majority of delegate votes remains the central question of the contest. However, for Nyantakyi and the campaign team, the choice for the NPP is clear: a candidate who can win beyond the party’s borders or one who remains confined within them.
