Guinness Ghana has announced a significant enhancement to its long-standing partnership with the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA), unveiling a GH¢100,000 prize package for the winner of the Album/EP of the Year category at the 27th edition of the awards.
The announcement, made in an official statement signals one of the most substantial corporate investments yet into Ghana’s recorded music ecosystem, with a strong emphasis on rewarding full-length creative projects over individual hit singles.
Under the new arrangement, the winning artiste will receive a cash prize of GH¢100,000, alongside additional benefits including production support for a future music video, a curated album listening experience powered by Guinness Ghana, and tailored business intelligence designed to support long-term career and commercial growth.
Speaking on the initiative, Nana Yaa Amoah-Owusu, Head of Media and Partnerships at Guinness Ghana, described the Album/EP of the Year category as the highest form of musical artistry within the awards framework.
“The Album/EP of the Year category represents the pinnacle of artistic expression, body of work, storytelling, and sonic identity. This package is Guinness Ghana’s way of recognising excellence and investing in the future of the artist and the industry at large”
Nana Yaa Amoah-Owusu, Head of Media and Partnerships at Guinness Ghana
Her comments underline the brand’s strategic shift towards supporting not just visibility-driven success, but also depth, consistency and creative storytelling in Ghanaian music.

A Push for Full-Length Projects
The initiative arrives at a time when the structure of music consumption is evolving rapidly. While singles continue to dominate streaming platforms and radio rotation, industry stakeholders have repeatedly stressed the importance of albums and EPs as more complete artistic statements.
By attaching a high-value incentive to this category, Guinness Ghana is seeking to encourage artistes to invest more time and resources into cohesive bodies of work, rather than prioritising short-term viral releases.
According to industry observers, the move could help reposition albums and EPs as commercially and culturally significant projects within Ghana’s music economy.
The organisers of the awards, Charterhouse Productions, have also welcomed the enhanced sponsorship package.
Robert Klah, Head of Public Events and Communications at Charterhouse Productions, described the intervention as both timely and impactful.
“This is an important intervention from Guinness Ghana. It aligns with our commitment to celebrate and elevate Ghanaian music, while also creating tangible support for artistes. It sends a strong signal about the value of albums and EPs as lasting creative works”

Competition Ahead of TGMA 2026
The 27th TGMA is scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 9, 2026, and the Album/EP of the Year category is already shaping up to be one of the most competitive segments of the night.

This year’s nominees include Iron Boy by Black Sherif, Torcher by Stonebwoy, After Midnight by Gyakie, Disturbation II by Medikal, Ready by Wendy Shay, and Walk With Me by Kweku Smoke.
With such a strong lineup of established and emerging acts, the category is expected to be one of the defining moments of the awards ceremony.
Beyond the monetary reward, Guinness Ghana’s package introduces a more holistic approach to artiste development. The inclusion of a curated listening experience is expected to create networking opportunities, industry exposure, and deeper audience engagement for the winning project.
The business intelligence component, in particular, is aimed at equipping artistes with insights into market trends, audience behaviour, and commercial strategy tools that are increasingly vital in a competitive global music industry.
Guinness Ghana’s continued investment in the TGMA reflects a broader commitment to supporting Ghana’s creative industry as it gains international visibility. With artistes such as Black Sherif, Stonebwoy and Gyakie making strides on global platforms, corporate backing is increasingly seen as a key driver of sustainable growth.
Industry stakeholders believe that this expanded prize package could elevate the Album/EP of the Year category into one of the most prestigious honours in Ghanaian music, with long-term implications for how artistes approach project development.
Raising the Stakes for 2026
As anticipation builds towards May 9, attention is firmly fixed on which artiste will ultimately claim the enhanced prize. Beyond the trophy, the winner will walk away with financial support, industry guidance and production resources designed to extend the life and reach of their work.
With Guinness Ghana raising the bar, TGMA 2026 is set to not only celebrate musical excellence but also redefine what it means to invest in Ghanaian artistry at the highest level.
