Muslims praying

A segment of the Islamic community in the Asawase Constituency represented in the Ashanti Region over the weekend, held special intercessory prayers for the Member of Parliament for the area, Mohammed Mubarak-Muntaka.

The prayers, led by an Imam, was briefed with a sermon for the purpose of gathering. It is an unknown fact as to whether the MP directly requested for the litanies but he was not in attendance of the intercessory prayers.

In a Facebook LIVE video shared by Asawase Lens portal, the Imam is perceived to be speaking extensively about the position of such prayers. The post was captioned: “AL QUNUT PRAYER AGAINST EVIL MACHINATIONS DIRECTED AT HON. MOHAMMED MUBARAK MUNTAKA – MP FOR ASAWASE.”

Speaking in Hausa, the Imam prayed intricately for the Member of Parliament and against all his perceived enemies, be they human beings, spiritual forces or animals. “Allah in your own ways, by virtue of your all Knowing, all Seeing, all Hearing attributes; we submit before you all detractors of the Hon. MP, deal with them as you deem fit,” prayed the Imam

The session, known as Qunut, involved a two-unit prayer after the sermon. It naturally encompasses extensive prayers said for a detailed purpose or intervention. It is believed in the Muslim community within the Asawase Costituency that their beloved Honorable Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka might be under an attack since most news circulating all over, have his name indicated in them; one way or the other.

The Islamic community therefore came to an agreement through its leaders to become one with the members of the community and offer prayers to Allah on Muntaka’s behalf with one accord. Muntaka however was not in attendance and up till now, has not spoken about this nor made his opinions known, neither has he offered thanks to them, even though it is all over the news that his supporters in his constituency rallied behind him to offer prayers on his behalf.

Haruna Iddrisu’s First Public Appearance Since Replacement

The Immediate-past Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu was seen engaging in a sporting activity in Accra. This really is the first time he has been seen publicly since his replacement as Minority Leader in Parliament, a decision that has split the Minority Caucus he had led for six years.

Photos of this event circulated on social media as the Tamale South Member of Parliament purportedly engaged in an early morning workout at the Accra Sports Stadium. Photos made public, later that day on Twitter showed Honourable Haruna Iddrisu interacting with players of Karela FC, a club that he owns. That same day, Haruna Iddrisu was also spotted at the Accra Sports Stadium in the afternoon watching Karela play Accra Great Olympics in their Ghana Premier League fixture.

Unfortunately, Karela lost the game by a lone goal to their hosts. It was the fifth defeat in six games for the Western Region based side. Member of Parliament for Tamale South, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu met the playing body of Karela United before & after the game against Great Olympics. Haruna Iddrisu shared some words of encouragement to his boys in order to keep them going in the days ahead even though, he actually needed some words of encouragement since he has not spoken about the major issue at hand.

The MP for Tamale South has not really come forth to proclaim as to whether he is in support of the new Leadership changes made amongst the Minority Caucus or whether he is against it. No one actually knows what he is thinking, how he is faring or what he seems to be going through at the moment. Currently, he seems like he is walking alone; like a lone wolf, waiting for his moment to bite.
