The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has warned its delegates towards the Super Delegates Conference on Saturday, August 26, not to show their ballots after casting their vote in any way or form.
The NPP in a statement detailing certain safeguards put in place to ensure that voting goes off without a hitch, emphasized that it is illegal to show cast ballots in public.
“We hereby serve notice that those who violate this provision shall be subjected to legal repercussions in accordance with the law. Delegates are hereby informed that any cast ballots publicly displayed will be rejected.”

The party added that with the protocols put in place, it wants to reassure “all relevant parties, including stakeholders, delegates, aspirants, and the public that with these guidelines in place, no individual can decipher the voting preferences and patterns of specific voters after the voting process concludes.”
On Saturday, August 26, there will be a Special Electoral College, where almost 900 NPP delegates will vote to cut the ten Presidential candidates to five. This is prior to the key National Convention on November 4, 2023, where the party’s nominee for the 2024 General Election will be decided.
The nationwide election comes after months of arduous campaigning by the candidates across the entire nation in an effort to win over the delegates who will decide their fate.
Kojo Poku Discredits NPP Polls OF Top 5
Kojo Nsafoah Poku, the party’s flagbearer candidate, has disagreed with political polls on the ten Presidential hopefuls of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), that concludes on the top 5 who will emerge out of the Super Delegates Conference.
Concerns were voiced by Kojo Poku regarding polls in which his name had never been among the top five.
Mr. Poku claimed that polls lacking his name in the top five candidates for selection as the party’s Presidential nominee are unreliable. He said that following the party’s special delegates’ conference, which will be held across the nation on August 26, the actual poll would be revealed.
Also, he argued that the polls should not be taken seriously, since they do not accurately reflect the situation on the ground and are instead a product of people’s fantasies.
“The polls that matter is what the results will be on the evening of Saturday. People who have been sitting on radio and TV, doing all these political analyses as if they know what they are talking about, let’s see what will happen on Saturday. Saturday will go to show if they know what they are talking about, or if they are just talking without any ground research. When all is said and done, we will tell delegates what we want to do for them. Saturday is the poll that matters.
“These polls are nowhere near any reflection of what’s on the ground. These polls are people’s imagination. I don’t know of any scientific data that has been gathered. If you go around gathering data from the people who are voting and my name doesn’t come up, you have not done any poll. I don’t think those polls are credible.”

Towards the Delegates Conference in November, he expressed confidence that he would be among the top five candidates to run for President.
“My chances are 99%, but the only 1% is the fear of the delegate’s factor. I’m very confident I have done the work I’m supposed to do, the rest of the work is up to the delegates to do their work. The messaging, traveling, engaging, I have done well.”

Also, he promised to approach politics differently, if elected as the party’s Flagbearer and ultimately as President.
Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, MP for Assin Central Kennedy Agyapong, former Trade Minister Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, former Energy Minister Boakye Kyerematen Agyarko, and former NPP General Secretary Kwabena Agyei Agyapong are the top five candidates who have been analyzed and are expected to come out victorious.
