Ghana’s Black Sherif landed a massive win for the continent Tuesday night in the United States of America as he won the coveted Best International Flow Award at the 2023 BET Hip Hop Awards.

Black Sherif was nominated for the honor for the first time in his career and managed to bring it home to make all Ghanaians proud. The win marks another major milestone in the young rapper’s budding career!

Blacko thus becomes the second Ghanaian to win Best International Flow since Sarkodie’s impressive win in 2019, during the category’s inaugural year.

His professional name, Black Sherif, simply means ‘high born African’. Black Sherif was studying marketing at the University of Professional Studies (UPSA) but dropped out to concentrate on his career and since then making waves worldwide.

The show was taped in Atlanta on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, and will be shown live on October 10, 2023.

He stated his musical influences are rappers Kanye West, Travis Scott, Saint John, Dave, Stormzy, J Hus, and Ghanaian artists Mugeez and Sarkodie.

According to Twitter users, his triumph is seen as a breath of fresh air, especially considering his previous nomination in the Best International Flow Category at the 2022 BET Hip Hop Awards, where he faced defeat against Benjamin EPPS.

Below are a few reactions of some Ghanaians on Twitter.
