The Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has wowed Ghanaians and posters with his impressive performance as the New Patriotic Party National Delegates Conference polls end and counting begins and ends in some constituencies.
The Assin Central lawmaker has won some constituencies and secured significant numbers in some constituencies across the country.
The first-time presidential aspirant for the New Patriotic Party won the Ayawaso West Constituency in the Greater Accra with two hundred sixty-two votes as against two hundred and twenty-five votes for the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
The Assin Central Member of Parliament overwhelmingly secured seven hundred ninety-nine votes in the Cape Coast North Constituency against the Vice President’s votes of thirty-nine.
Again, Kennedy Agyepong won the Assin North Constituencies with a total vote of four hundred sixty-nine votes as against fifty-one votes for the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Also, despites strong opposition against the Assin Central lawmaker in the Awutu Senya East Constituency by the Member of Parliament, Hawa Koomson, the maverick politician won with eighty hundred and forty-nine votes as against the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia with five hundred and eighty-four votes.
Furthermore, the Assin Central legislator per provisional result has won constituencies such as Shama, Keta, Pru West, and Adentan among others.
Dr Bawumia Leads North And Oti Region
However, the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia per provisional result has won overwhelmingly in Oti and two northern regions in the country as polls end.
The Vice President won the North East Region with a total vote of three thousand four hundred and forty-four votes as against twenty-three votes for the Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Agyapong.
Again, the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia won the Savannah Region with two thousand six hundred and three votes while the Assin Central Member of Parliament secured one thousand and twenty-eight votes.
More so, the Vice President won the Oti Region with three thousand five hundred and ninety-one votes as against the Assin Central Member of Parliament votes of one thousand three hundred and eleven votes.
On the other hand, the maverick and outspoken politician secured one hundred and thirty-three votes as against the Vice President’s votes of two hundred fifty-four in the party headquarters.
Meanwhile, the New Patriotic Party’s Elections Committee Chairman, Professor Mike Aaron Oquaye, has promised that any questions about the party’s presidential contest will be handled cordially.
During a tour of the Dome-Kwabenya polling place on Saturday, Professor Oquaye said that mistakes will inevitably occur but that they will all be fixed if brought to the party’s attention.
“You try to make one change or correction on the computer, and then it affects other things, so there can always be mistakes. We are learning and growing in all of these elections. The committee has tolerated queries all along, and we will provide an answer to every query”.
