The Member of Parliament for Tamale North in the Northern Region, Honorable Alhassan Sayibu Suhuyini has criticized what he described as the ruling New Patriotic Party administration’s failure to fulfil its campaign promises made to Ghanaians while in opposition.

The National Democratic Congress lawmaker in a scathing critique aimed at the ruling government strongly berated the governing New Patriotic Party’s track record, accusing them of engaging in “shameless” electioneering tactics ahead of the upcoming elections.

The former broadcast journalist began his chastisement of the ruling New Patriotic Party administration by stating that since the party assumed power it has failed to deliver on its promises and is now attempting to take credit for initiatives spearheaded by the Mahama’s administration.

One of the primary issues raised by Honorable Suhuyini is the contentious “1 village 1 dam” initiative, which he asserted has led to misuse of valuable state and public resources without delivering the promised benefits.

Honourable Alhassan Suhuyini further pointed out that in many parts of Tamale North and the wider Northern region, the New Patriotic Party parliamentary candidates are now scrambling to compete with opposition National Democratic Congress parliamentary candidates who have been actively involved in dredging age-old dams to improve water access for communities.

Furthermore, the two-term Member of Parliament criticized the ruling New Patriotic Party’s handling of sanitation issues, stating that despite promises to tackle garbage accumulation and create a cleaner environment, the government has failed to deliver.

He vehemently chastised members of the ruling party for their deliberate attempt to shift blame on the National Democratic Congress for its failure to address the longstanding issue of waste management across the country.

“Seven years After promising to make and keep our cities clean, creating a ministry, collecting sanitation levies etc, they’re now boastfully competing with NDC candidates to deal with years of mounting heaps of garbage and shamelessly holding NDC PC’s responsible for the filth. #thievery #CiciliaDapaah”

Delays in Completion of Government’s Infrastructural Projects

The National Democratic Congress Member of Parliament also criticized the delay in the completion of the government’s infrastructural projects, citing among many things the mismanagement of road construction projects.

He highlighted a specific instance in Tamale North where he stated a contractor abandoned a road project awarded by the previous National Democratic Congress administration due to payment issues, only for the New Patriotic Party administration to now claim credit for addressing the situation after years of neglect.

Moreover, Honourable Alhassan Suhuyini condemned the ruling government’s failure to comprehensively address water and rural development issues in the country

He pointed out that despite the continued existence of malfunctioning toilets and water supply problems in rural communities, the New Patriotic Party administration under President Akufo-Addo has failed to address them.

Honorable Alhassan Suhuyine bemoaning the situation, strongly asserted that the failure by the New Patriotic Party administration to address such major issues is in contrast to its promises to address such issues within a two-year timeframe while in opposition.

The Tamale North lawmaker concluded his criticisms against the ruling New Patriotic Party administration under President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia by urging Ghanaians to vote against the ruling party in the December 7 polls.

He emphasized the importance of holding politicians accountable for their promises and actions, particularly in the lead-up to the country’s general elections.
