Black Rasta and Barack Obama

Despite the allure that American citizenship holds for many, Ghanaian media personality cum musician, Blakk Rasta, has revealed that he turned down the opportunity when it was presented to him by former U.S. President Barack Obama.

Blakk Rasta recounted when he declined the offer during Obama’s visit to Ghana.

“When Obama came to Ghana he offered me the opportunity to become an American citizen, but I told him that if I accept, God will punish me.”

Blakk Rasta

He expressed his belief that his purpose lies in Ghana.

“God brought me to Ghana, and I feel compelled to contribute to the betterment of this country. If I were to flee to America, I believe I would face divine retribution.”

Blakk Rasta

For Blakk Rasta, his decision to remain in Ghana reflects his commitment to addressing the nation’s challenges.

“Our politicians are the root of many of our problems. Instead of serving the nation, they see it as an opportunity for personal enrichment.

“I am deeply troubled when I think about the future my children will inherit. It pains me to see them grow up in a country plagued by economic hardship, with so many seeking refuge abroad.”

Blakk Rasta

Through his refusal to pursue American citizenship, Blakk Rasta remains dedicated to his mission of advocating for positive change within Ghana, urging others to join him in the fight for a brighter future.

Abubakar Ahmed widely known as Blakk Rasta, descended heavily on the anti-corruption crusader, Martin A.B.K Amidu, describing him as a coward and a talkative.

“Martin Amidu is a coward, anybody who compares me to Martin Amidu shows that the person doesn’t know Blakk Rasta. What principles does Martin Amidu have? Martin Amidu is a coward.”

Blakk Rasta

The Reggae musician stated Martin Amidu has disappointed many Ghanaians including the Chief in his hometown who were happy when he was appointed as the Special Prosecutor.

“He said there was an Airbus scandal and Mahama was fingered in it. He was either investigating or not investigating him and when you even came in as a Special Prosecutor we lauded you and we were happy. I went to his hometown to interview his village king

“I was so happy to be there and interviewed the man and he said Ghana was so happy but now they are all disappointed. You’ve now run away from the position saying (Akufo-Addo is) the mother serpent of corruption, so investigate him and jail him or whoever is involved but you did nothing and you are still talking. He has disappointed us.”

Winning Grammys is More Credible Than Ghana Music Awards

bla
Blakk Rasta

Blakk Rasta stated that it’s more credible to win the Grammys than the Ghana Music Awards.

He noted the voting system used to adjudge winners at the Ghana Music Awards is robbery.

“In fact, the Grammy Awards is not like that because they don’t use money in voting like the Ghana Music Awards but rather it’s the members of the academy who come and vote.

“So if they vote wrongly they blame themselves and they come out to apologize so they can go back and even collect the award and give it to the right person.”

Blakk Rasta

According to him, when the Grammy Award organizers award somebody wrongly and they realize their mistake, they ensure that the right thing is done, adding that it has happened before in their [Grammy Award] history.

“So that’s what it is. We just want the awards system to get better and every award that we pay money to vote is thievery and not really an award.”
