Multiple-award-winning Ghanaian gospel singer Sonnie Badu is set to host his Rhythms of Africa concert in November.

Ghana has begun its search for a new President after Nana Akufo Addo’s tenure. The Electoral Commission recently approved 13 aspirants for the elections, including the NPP’s Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and the NDC’s John Dramani Mahama.

The concert took place at the Grand Arena, AICC, last year. The singer said it took over two million of his funds but brought nothing in return. Yet this year, the concert will be held at a much bigger venue, Independence Square, and attendees will not be charged to attend.

On social media, Sonnie Badu shared the backstory behind his upcoming Rhythms of Africa concert.

“If you thought the first edition was solid, just wait until you experience the second! The venue is also perfect for this election year. God is up to something.”

Artist Speaks About His Accident

Sonnie Badu opened up about his struggles after a severe accident at his home in 2023.

He denied some claims that the accident was a ploy to seek attention on social media. The Ghanaian gospel musician shared that he slipped on a staircase while cleaning his mansion and lost three toes on his right foot after his leg got caught up in a metal guardrail.

He noted that he was rushed to the hospital, where doctors informed him it would be impossible for them to re-attach his three toes to his right foot.

Sonnie Badu said that he initially relied on crutches to go out for church preachings and had to be carried for radio interviews because he could not walk properly.

The ‘Wonder God’ crooner noted that he battled depression for six months and was inspired to speak about his struggles after Nana Ama McBrown narrated the ordeal she went through after surviving a car accident in a recent interview.

Many Ghanaians expressed sympathy for Sonnie Badu on social media.

“People should go and watch the video on YouTube. Dr. Sonnie Badu is brutally injured 💔💔💔.”

In other news, the multiple award-winning gospel singer and pastor of Rock Hill Church in Atlanta stated that he really enjoyed being a guest presenter.

The program is artfully designed to entertain, educate, and inform listeners with rich socio-cultural issues, combined with good music from Africa and other parts of the world.

The ‘Baba’ hitmaker shared a video of himself enjoying and displaying his dancing skills with some friends and guests in the studio. In a Facebook post, Sonnie Badu said it was an incredible moment.

“I really enjoyed my day as a presenter at @ asaase99.5—it was an incredible experience,” Badu posted on Facebook.
