Ruth Kadiri Celebrates Youtube Milestone

Ruth Kadiri

Nollywood actress Ruth Kadiri has been left humbled after getting recognition from YouTube.

Taking to her Instagram page, the movie star and filmmaker revealed that a day before YouTube celebrated its 20th anniversary, she was honoured as one of the four female creators who are redefining the boundaries of creativity and shaping YouTube into a beacon for cultural storytelling and global connection.

“50k for 4 people each… What’s your best RUTHKADIRI247 movie ever? To be named one of the top female YouTubers in Nigeria is something I never imagined when I first started sharing my passion for movie-making with the world. What began as a simple desire to tell stories has grown into something far beyond my expectations.

“I’m deeply grateful to God for the grace, the gift, and the growth. Thank you to @youtube for this incredible recognition, and thank you, my amazing community, for walking this journey with me. I love you all. Here’s to more stories, flavour and a world of impact.”

Ruth Kadiri is undoubtedly leaving her footprint in Nollywood, especially in the area of filmmaking. In February, Nigerians praised Ruth for introducing new artists in her movies via her streaming platform on YouTube.

The filmmaker vowed to change the Nigerian cinema pattern with her movies. She spoke about how she often asked herself what would become of her brand without the promotional help from anyone, and vowed that many would watch her movie without being forced or compelled to do so.

RuthKadiri247 has become home to some of the most-watched Nollywood content on YouTube.

Her top title, ‘Better Half’, has achieved a remarkable 20 million+ views, while other fan favourites such as ‘After School’, ‘Mannerless’, ‘Wait for You’, and more have each surpassed 10 million views — a testament to her storytelling appeal and audience loyalty.

Maintaining an unwavering connection with her fans, Kadiri has also set a consistent content schedule, uploading new films every Thursday at 5 PM, making her one of the most reliable and dedicated creators in the digital Nollywood space.

Her recognition by YouTube marks a significant milestone not just for her personal career, but for the growing community of Nigerian women who are transforming digital storytelling and pushing cultural narratives to a global stage.

Last year, Ruth had sent a message to film critics, telling them she wasn’t bothered by their analysis.

She noted how she had gotten lots of criticisms from people complaining about how predictable her movies were, as she compared them to Hollywood, noting how Hollywood and other foreign movies are also predictable, yet people still watch them.

The Nollywood actress and filmmaker, often referred to as the queen of YouTube in the Nigerian film industry, shared the story behind her rise to success.

In an insightful conversation, Ruth Kadiri revealed how she stumbled upon the potential of YouTube.

“I didn’t even know YouTube was a goldmine. When I traveled, I noticed that was the platform a lot of people were watching — music and all that. So I asked myself, if there is a crowd here, why is nobody feeding it? And that’s how it started.”

The actress also addressed how she deals with criticism, particularly on social media.

“I really don’t care, I feel like I am so self-sufficient. And I feel like whatever you feel is your problem. I am not saying it in a disrespectful way, I am just okay. One doesn’t have to figure that out; if one does that, one won’t even be where one is.”

Her journey exemplifies resilience and independence, as she continues to thrive in the competitive world of Nollywood.
