Ghana Immigration Service on recruitment fraud

Ghana Immigration Service

The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has issued a strong warning to the general public over a rising case of recruitment fraud, urging citizens to be cautious of unauthorized portals and false information circulating online.

The warning follows the emergence of a fraudulent website, GOLERNERSHUB.COM, which falsely advertises a supposed GIS recruitment drive through a so-called “protocol recruitment portal.”

In a formal press release, the Management of the Ghana Immigration Service made it clear that it has no affiliation with the claims made on the website in question.

“The Service wishes to categorically disassociate itself from this false information, and reiterates that the GIS has not engaged any individual, group, or third-party website to conduct recruitment exercises or sell protocol forms on its behalf.”

Officials underscored that the Government of Ghana has not granted any formal approval for new recruitment into the Ghana Immigration Service at this time.

As a result, the Service reaffirmed that any circulating announcements or advertisements claiming that recruitment is underway are completely false and crafted to deceive unsuspecting members of the public.

The GIS emphasized that any legitimate recruitment exercise will only take place after receiving official government clearance.

When that time comes, the public will be duly informed through verified and credible communication channels such as national newspapers, the Service’s official website, and its verified social media platforms.

Recruitment Fraud Scheme Targets Job Seekers

The GIS further disclosed that its Intelligence Section, working in close coordination with other national security agencies, is actively tracking down the individuals and networks behind this recruitment fraud.

The aim, according to the Service, is to ensure that the perpetrators are identified, apprehended, and prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

Investigations have reportedly revealed leads that are being treated with urgency, given the nature of the scam and its potential to damage public trust.

Authorities believe the scheme may have already deceived some job seekers into paying for non-existent recruitment forms or protocols under the impression of fast-tracked entry into the GIS.

As the situation unfolds, the public has been urged to remain vigilant and to verify all recruitment-related announcements through official channels only.

The GIS underscored that announcements of genuine recruitment exercises will be made exclusively via national newspapers, official press releases, and its verified social media and web platforms.

The Service also issued a call to action, encouraging citizens to report any suspicious messages, websites, or individuals attempting to solicit money or personal information under the guise of Immigration Service recruitment.

“The public is hereby strongly advised to disregard and report any communication or solicitation from GOLERNERSHUB.COM or similar unofficial sources. Anyone who engages with such fraudulent entities does so at their own risk.”

This warning comes at a time when youth unemployment remains a pressing issue in Ghana, and scams promising employment opportunities often find traction among desperate job seekers.

The GIS hopes its early intervention will prevent further victimization and discourage others from attempting similar frauds in the future.

Recruitment scams are not new to Ghana’s security sector. Fraudsters often exploit the legitimacy of uniformed institutions to convince victims into making payments in exchange for recruitment favors.

This recent wave involving a fake GIS recruitment drive highlights the need for greater digital literacy and public awareness campaigns to protect citizens from cyber-related deception.

The Ghana Immigration Service reiterated its commitment to upholding integrity in its operations and ensuring that all recruitment processes remain transparent, fair, and accessible only through official means.

As investigations continue, the GIS promised to keep the public informed of any significant developments.

Until then, Ghanaians are advised to stay alert and rely only on trusted, official sources for any information relating to immigration and employment opportunities.
