KoJo Cue

When it comes to rap music in Ghana, one of the notable names who has paid his dues is Kojo Cue.

However, in his own words, he gives the crown to Sarkodie, describing him as the greatest rap artist of all time in Ghana.

He explained that when it comes to metrics and overall impact, there’s no debate that the rapper stands tall.

Buttressing his point, Kojo Cue pointed to the rapper’s consistency in releasing hit songs, nationwide fanbase, and his dominance at award shows.

“Sarkodie is the greatest rapper of all time. It is metrics, it’s undeniable. You can check everywhere. Based on consistent hits, based on how huge his fanbase is. The only person I can think of who comes close to Sark in terms of fanbase is Lord Kenya, but because Lord Kenya stopped at a point, I don’t think he can go a hundred songs back-to-back with Sark. The most nominated, has won the most awards. Whether you like it or not, you cannot argue it.”

He further stated that while debates over who the best rapper is can be exciting for fans, he personally has moved on from chasing that title.

Sarkodie

For him, the next phase of his career is focused on being recognized not just as a rapper, but as one of the best songwriters in Ghana.

Among African rappers, few have racked up as many awards and streams as Sarkodie. His joining of the Boomplay Golden Club and being most streamed artist on African platforms are metrics that set him apart within the continent.

Compared to global numbers, while the rapper may not (yet) rival Drake or Eminem in raw totals, he may outperform many in terms of influence per market size, ratio of streams to promotion, etc.

While the title “greatest rapper of all time” will always have subjective aspects, when the focus on measurable, quantifiable metrics , streams, awards, consistency, influence and recognition, Sarkodie’s case is strong.

He has achieved levels of success rarely matched in Africa, and quite competitively even on the global stage (especially considering market and resource differences).

Therefore, if one defines “greatest” primarily in terms of metrics rather than purely artistry or lyrical technicality, it is reasonable to assert that Sarkodie is among the very top contenders, and many arguments could be made that he is the greatest under those criteria.

Ghanaian rapper Kojo Cue released a brand-new single titled TONTONTE that’s already sparking conversations across the music scene.

The track, which features rising star AratheJay and legendary highlife icon Ofori Amponsah, is now available on all major streaming platforms.

Billed as a collaboration between three generations of genius, the record beautifully blends Kojo Cue’s lyrical dexterity, AratheJay’s refreshing contemporary sound, and Ofori Amponsah’s timeless melodies.

The result is a genre-bending track that bridges hip-hop, highlife, and Afrofusion, an intergenerational conversation told through music.

Kojo Cue has been subtly hinting that he is in “album mode,” and this release only fuels speculation about what could be his most ambitious project yet.

If this single is any indication, fans can expect an album that highlights his artistry and celebrates the broader legacy of Ghanaian music through diverse collaborations.

With a reputation for being one of Ghana’s most thoughtful lyricists, Kojo Cue continues to push creative boundaries, proving that his music resonates with both older and younger generations.

This collaboration underscores his ability to bring artists from different eras together for something fresh, soulful, and forward-looking.

The single is now available on all major streaming platforms.
