Guyanese-British actress and star of the ‘Black Panther’ sequel, Letitia Wright has been hospitalized with minor injuries after a stunt rig accident on the set of ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’.

A spokesperson for Marvel said in a statement:

“Letitia Wright sustained minor injuries today while filming a stunt for ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.’ She is currently receiving care in a local hospital and is expected to be released soon”.

The film shoot was happening overnight in Boston, while the production for the ‘Black Panther’ sequel is based in Atlanta.  According to the spokesperson, the incident is not going to have any negative impact on the movie’s shooting schedule.

It is worth noting that in the first ‘Black Panther’ movie, Wright was introduced as Shuri, the genius inventor and younger sister to T’Challa, played by the late Chadwick Boseman. She also appeared in the MCU team-up films ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and ‘Avengers: Endgame’.

Well, it can be recalled that just recently, Leticia landed herself in trouble and this time it wasn’t injuries but major backlash after she posted an anti-vaccine video.

The video, which was from the YouTube channel ‘On The Table’, questions the legitimacy of the COVID-19 vaccine. It also appears skeptical of climate change, accuses China of spreading COVID-19, and includes transphobic comments.

Wright tweeted the link to it with the prayer hands emoji, and it was deleted shortly thereafter. YouTube also removed the video in question for violating its terms of service.

Wright received several backlashes from the public and she later deleted her Twitter account. More so, her Instagram account also appeared to have been deleted.

Before deleting her accounts, Wright responded to the backlash writing: “My intention was not to hurt anyone. My ONLY intention of posting the video was it raised my concerns with what the vaccine contains and what we are putting in our bodies… Nothing else”.

Earlier, Wright had also tweeted: “If you don’t conform to popular opinions, but ask questions and think for yourself, you get canceled”.

Wright’s fellow Marvel Universe star, Don Cheadle, was among the stars to respond to Wright’s post, saying that he would “never defend anybody posting this”.

“Jesus… just scrolled through hot garbage every time, I stopped and listened, he and everything he said sounded crazy and messed up. I would never defend anybody posting this, but, I still won’t throw her away over it”.

That aside, production on ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’, directed by Ryan Coogler, began in June 2021. Plot and cast details are being kept under wraps, but it’s expected that the main cast members Danai Gurira, Daniel Kaluuya, Winston Duke, Lupita Nyong’o, Florence Kasumba, and Angela Bassett will return for the sequel to the Oscar-nominated movie.

Meanwhile just last month, some new faces were disclosed to join the ‘Black Panther’ cast.  ‘I May Destroy You’ creator and star, Michaela Coel joined the cast in an unknown role. Additionally, it was revealed just last week that Dominique Thorne, who will play the up-and-coming superhero, ‘Ironheart’, will be introduced in ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ ahead of her TV debut.

That notwithstanding, ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ will come to theaters on July 8, 2022.
