Abesim alleged murder suspect remanded by court

The 28-year-old Richard Appiah, alleged to have murdered three children at Abesim in the Bono Region has been remanded into Police custody by the Kaneshie District Court.

Appearing before court today, Thursday, August 26, 2021, the suspect was given a provisional charge of two counts of murder with his plea yet to be taken.

The court headed by the trial Judge, Ama Adomako Kwakye granted the request to the prosecutor, Chief Inspector Florence Anane, who prayed the court to remand the suspect to further aid in investigations.

Appiah, who was without legal representation, is expected to reappear on September 15, this year.

The court trial today follows the arrest of Richard Appiah who is alleged to have committed the gruesome murder of three boys and keeping some of their body parts in a fridge.

Prior to the trial, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Headquarters team investigating the Abesim murder case revealed that they had discovered where suspect Richard Appiah buried the intestines of one of the murder victims.

According to a report from the Police, the intestines were buried in a cocoa farm at Abesim. The Police said they have since exhumed the intestines for pathological analysis and forensic examination in Accra.

The investigation team also worked around a septic tank and other places of concern for further examinations where two sharp cutlasses with bloodstains used by the suspect to commit the crime were retrieved from the scene.

Also, the Police indicated that, three people have been arrested in connection with the Abesim murder case. They include the 28-year-old prime suspect. The Police said they have also retrieved the bodies of two teenagers found in Appiah’s living room.

Moreover, the Police disclosed that they have gone far with their investigations and gave the assurance that all criminal cases are being given the necessary attention.

“All regional crime officers within the 18 police regions have been tasked to make sure they get to the bottom of whatever cases are before them.

“We’ve shown commitment and we’ll do whatever possible to unravel these cases. We’re paying extra attention to all developments in the country, be it murder, stealing or robbery, until we get to the bottom of it”.

The Police in Sunyani arrested 28-year-old Richard Appiah, who is believed to have murdered the three children and kept some meat suspected to be human flesh in his fridge.

The victims are his own 12-year-old stepbrother, Louis Agyeman Junior, and a 15-year-old Stephen Sarpong. The third victim is yet to be identified

The bodies were found in his living quarters, owned by his father at Alaska near Abesim on Friday, August 20, 2021.

The police arrested another suspect [name withheld] last Sunday, August 22,2021 to assist in investigations.

According to the source, an unspecified number of the homicide officers had picked the fridge in which the suspect was alleged to have kept the pieces of suspected human parts to the regional command.
