Ghanaian gospel musician, Jacklin Sarfo Gyamfua also known as Ohemaa Jacky, has been remanded by an Accra Circuit court for allegedly defrauding a trader of 150,000 Ghana Cedis under the pretext of securing the trader with an Italian passport and resident identity cards.

An Accra Circuit Court has ordered the arrest of a 29-year-old gospel musician, Jacklin Sarfo Gyamfua, popularly known as Ohemaa Jackie, for refusing to appear before court.

The Court issued a bench warrant for the arrest of the musician. This was because prosecution informed the Court that Gyamfua failed to comply with the orders of the court after she was granted bail last month for defrauding and forging official documents.

The Court, as part of the bail condition, had asked Gyamfua to report to the Police but she failed to comply with the conditions.

The relieving judge, Priscilla Dapaah Mireku, held that since no reasonable excuse had been given by her lawyer, Gyamfua should be arrested. The case was then adjourned to December 6, 2021.

Background of the story

Gyamfua is accused of defrauding a trader of 21,000 Euros under the pretext of securing her two Italian passports and Resident Identity Cards.

Presenting the facts, Detective Inspector Frederick Sarpong, said the complainant, Barbara Adu Boahen, resided in Accra whiles Gyamfua was a dual resident of London and Accra.

The prosecution disclosed that in February this year, the complainant and a witness in the case saw the accused person running adverts on social media platforms purporting to be securing traveling documents and resident ID cards for every country within the European Union (EU).

The Prosecutor stated that the complainant who was interested in traveling to Italy contacted the accused on her phone and expressed her interest as she had seen a posted Facebook advertisement from the accused.

Detective Inspector Sarpong stated that Gyamfua who also doubles as a blogger, promised to secure two Italian passports and two Resident ID cards for the complainant and her daughter at 24,000 Euros.

The prosecution noted that Gyamfua then gave the complainant her Access Bank Account bearing the name, Afua Serwa Dwamena and UMB account with the name, Lordmens Enterprise and requested the complainant to pay the 24,000 Euros into the accounts.

According to the Prosecutor, the complainant paid 21,000 Euros into the accounts provided by the accused. The Detective Inspector disclosed that Gyamfua later gave two forged Italian passports and two Resident ID cards to the complainant and her daughter.

Per the Prosecutor’s report, on March 30, 2021, the complainant presented the passports at the Kotoka International Airport and was arrested for presenting fake passports.

The prosecution revealed that a report was made to the Police at the National Signal Bureau/ National Security. On September 8, this year, Gyamfua was arrested and during a search in her house, two forged Italian passports and two Resident ID Cards were found.

Well, this is not the first time Jacky has been in the news over controversial issues. It can be recalled that back in 2019, a lady identified as Afia Linking, accused Ohemaa Jacky of sleeping with numerous men in Turkey.
