Kennedy Agyapong’s Outburst Will Do Party More Harm Than Good- Atik Mohammed

NPP Party Executives Not Engaging- Dr. Amoako Baah

Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong

Policy Analyst, Atik Mohammed, has intimated that the outburst of the Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong, will do the party more harm than good.

According to Atik Mohammed, in the MP’s bid to express his frustration, he was not very measured and in doing so, he believes some of the comments he made are more pernicious than the very actions Adwoa Safo is accused of having engaged in.

The Policy Analyst stated that Kennedy Agyapong’s outburst was born out of the fact that he was getting increasingly concerned about the impact the absence of Adwoa Safo is having on the majority in Parliament.

“To the extent that he has made some pronouncements relative to the fact that some of the MPs had to be flown into the country including Adwoa Safo to cast their ballots when the issue of the E-levy was tabled in Parliament.”

Atik Mohammed

Atik Mohammed averred that Kennedy Agyapong’s claims raises a critical question of who sponsored the trips. He posited that these questions wouldn’t have come about if Kennedy Agyapong was a bit measured in the expression of his frustration towards Adwoa Safo.

“Were the monies coming from individual pockets or these were state sponsored flights? These are questions that I am asking and I am sure many more Ghanaians are asking because they are very legitimate questions.”

Adwoa Safo’s case needs consideration from another Perspective

Touching on how the party can focus on its mandate of winning the upcoming election, Atik Mohammed advised the Assin North MP to be measured on how he handles issues.

“Sometimes, the comments he makes can be more injurious than the problems he seeks to deal with.”

Atik Mohammed

According to him, the NPP is more than capable of suggesting the very act that can deal with the comments Kennedy Agyapong makes and the impact there off.

“Going forward, I think that we should not just look at what Adwoa has done as completely bad in terms of her representation role in Parliament. We should look at it from another perspective.”

Atik Mohammed

Atik Mohammed averred that the conversation on Adwoa Safo’s absence must be situated in a more broader context. He stated that if her actions and the allegations being levelled against her is anything to go by, it indicates that her actions, somewhat have afforded the Ministry of Finance and everybody else involved an opportunity to have an engagement with Ghanaians.

“…even though I find the kind of events rather being illogical. Because my understanding of how policy works is that, you engage the people before you even formulate the policy.”

Atik Mohammed

Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong revealed some days ago that Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei-Opare gave him GHS 120,000 to be deposited into the bank account of Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament Sarah Adwoa Safo for her to attend to Parliament duties to work for the government. He stated that her absence is giving off the impression that the party is in opposition.
