Taxi driver Kidi Emerges Winner at 3Music Awards

Highlife and Afrobeat artist, Kidi has bagged the ultimate award at the just ended 3music awards program as he emerged the winner of the ‘Artist of the Year’ category.

Kidi won the coveted award of the night amid stiff competition from eight others, including label mate Kuami Eugene, as well as superstars Stonebwoy, Gyakie, Black Sherif, and ace rapper, Sarkodie.

It is worth noting that Kidi is the first artist to win in this category for the second time as no artist has won the flagship category more than once.

The Lynx Entertainment signee was not only crowned with the biggest award but he also won the most awards on the night. He took home five other awards: Reggae/Dancehall Song of the Year, Digital Act of the Year, Best Male Vocal Performance, Afrobeats/Afro-Pop Act of the Year, Album of the Year.

Kidi accepting his biggest award for the night noted that he is thankful to his fans, team, and family for their support and hard work.

Other Winners who bagged Home Awards

Following Kidi closely with four awards, is rapper, Black Sherif. He bagged home the Hip-hop Song of the Year, Breakthrough Act of the Year, Hiplife/Hip-hop Act of the Year, and Song of the Year.

Even though Sarkodie dominated the nominations list, he walked home with two awards. He won the Hiplife Song of the Year (Happy Day) and Video of the Year (Rollies and Cigars). Meanwhile, Stonebwoy bagged an award as the Reggae/Dancehall Act of the Year.

Unfortunately, this year, Eno Barony couldn’t hold on to her title as the Rapper of the Year award. Rapper Amerado, currently holds that title. He waded of competition from Eno Barony, Joe Kay, Joey B, Lyrical Joe, Medikal, Sarkodie, Strongman.

For the fourth consecutive time, MOG Beatz held on tight to his title as the Producer of the Year award. Since 2019, the revered producer has emerged as the winner of that category. Showing his appreciation to his fans for always supporting him, MOG Beatz in a Twitter post wrote, “Grateful” with a blue love emoji.

Stellar Performances From Artists

Black Sherif ‘s performance was definitely the highlight of all the performances that were rendered on the night. He lightened up the Grand Arena when he delivered an energetic performance at the awards show. He left audiences and viewers absolutely thrilled when out of nowhere, during his electrifying performance, it started to rain on stage as a spotlight shone on him.

KiDi, Kuami Eugene, Camidoh, S3fa, and Cina Soul also led several other entertainers who were billed to perform at the 5th annual event.  Additionally, rising stars Mona 4Reall, Ria Boss, and Kweku Darlington, graced the grand 3Music Awards ’22 stage, as did Gospel greats Joe Mettle and Ohemaa Mercy.

The event saw some of the well-known entertainment and media personalities gracing the occasion with their presence to support the show with their respective reputations and brands.
