A new organic liquid fertilizer has been introduced by Eco Index Agro Solutions Limited, a Ghanaian company, onto the local market to help farmers increase their crop yields and incomes.
The organic liquid fertilizer, Begreen-F fertilizer, is manufactured in Switzerland and it is said to be made from organically grown plants to provide nutrients for faster and healthy plant growth.
The company, Eco Index Agro Solutions Limited, that introduced the fertilizer is the African representative and a subsidiary of Strategic Security Systems Group Limited.
Promoters of the product said the organic fertiliser would promote food safety, increase yield and enhance general agricultural productivity in Ghana.
Launch
The product was launched in Kumasi last Wednesday to provide an opportunity for more farmer groups to increase their productivity even though it has been in the country for the past three years.
At the launch, the Chairman of Strategic Security Systems Group Limited, Dr Francis Akuamoah Boateng, stated that the introduction of the product was to discourage the use of chemicals which were harmful to human health.

According to him, more will begin to appreciate the importance of organic produce in the future.
“To be honest with you, the future of farming is organic and the reliance of organic fertilizer.”
He further revealed how he came across the fertilizer and why he decided to introduce it to the Ghanaian market. According to Dr Boateng, he got to know of the fertiliser through a friend in Vietnam while on a business trip and followed it up to the manufacturer in Switzerland to strike the deal.
Natural
Also speaking at the launch was a scientist and the Managing Director of Eco Index Agro Solutions Limited, Dr Emmanuel Moses.
While talking about the benefits of the fertilizer, he indicated that the livelihoods of farmers were regressing because of the chemicals they inhaled. He went on to say that the use of such harmful products needed to be discouraged and safe fertilisers must be used.
“This is purely natural and friendly to humans and I think it’s the way to go to reduce our poison intake.”
According to Dr Moses, the new organic fertilizer can increase the number of buds, flowers and fruits which on a larger scale increase yields.
He said nutrients in Begreen-F caused considerable increase in the numbers of cell and cell walls, producing cellulose, which influenced the taste of the crop.
