The Office of the Registrar of Companies (ORC) has announced to the general public an increase in the cost of the renewal of business names from GHc25 to Ghc30 beginning December 31, 2022.
A statement signed and issued today November 14, disclosed that the increament would apply to Sole Proprietorships and Subsidiary Business names, as well as companies in default including Churches, Associations, Foundations, Schoools, Professional Bodies, Unions amongst others.
It was also stated that pernalties for companies and partnerships in default will also increase from GHc450 to GHc 600. The statement further urged companies to file their financial statement together with their annual returns at a cost of GHc60 per year to renew thier companies.
”External companies are to submit their Group Accounts to the Office of the Registrar of Companies at a cost of $690.00 per year or in default, pay a penalty of $750.00 in addition to fees for all the year’s default.”

The communiqué however rescinded the Office’s initial decision to strike out the names of some 2,584 defaulting companies as part of a mass mopping exercise, dependent on those companies filing their annual returns by the end of year 2022.
According to the communique, all business entities who are yet to migrate their business records onto the e-Registrar application dubbed ‘Re -registration’, have up to January 31,2023 to do so in order to avoid sanctions.
Mode of Payment
The Office of the Registrar of Companies entreated its cherished clients to make payment transactions at their ‘in-house’ Fedility Bank or any Fidelity Bank branch accross the country.
According to the statement, ORC does not operate a mobile money number and any company official who pays out monies to any momo number, does so at their own risk. The Office further cautioned the public to be careful of fraudsters who call them pretending to be staff of the Office and asks them to send them monies.
“We kindly bring to the attention of our clients to ignore any call from fraudsters for mobile money transfer in the name of ORC or RGD persons claiming to be lawyers of the office Registrar of Companies.”
