Dr. Mrs. Adelaide Siaw Agyepong, Chief Executive Officer of African Agribusiness Consortium (AAC) Limited noted that resilient leadership is the key to navigating turbulent times and fostering business growth.
Dr. Mrs. Adelaide Siaw Agyepong made this assertion during her address at the 12th Jospong Leadership Conference (JLC) held on January 15, 2025, at the Pentecost Convention Centre in Gomoa, Central Region.
Themed “Transformation through Leadership,” JLC 2025 brought together the management and staff of the Jospong Group of Companies (JGC) to explore ways leadership can catalyze sustainable and impactful change. This year’s conference, running from January 15 to January 17, focuses on promoting business sustainability, enhancing work ethics, and fostering resilience among leaders.
In her presentation titled “The Path to Resilience,” Dr. Siaw Agyepong highlighted the transformative power of resilience in leadership. She noted that resilient leaders do more than ensure survival during challenging times; they drive success, foster innovation, and inspire their teams to adapt and thrive.
“Resilience is not something you’re born with—it’s something you build,” Dr. Siaw Agyepong emphasized. She encouraged leaders to embrace discomfort and see challenges as opportunities for growth. According to her, the ability to navigate uncertainty effectively stems from a leader’s commitment to their vision, even in the face of overwhelming obstacles.
Sharing insights on resilience, she explained that it is a continuous process rooted in purpose. Resilient leaders demonstrate unwavering focus, implement bold reforms, and inspire those around them to stay committed to the larger goal.
She cited examples of purpose-driven leaders, including Jesus Christ, Nelson Mandela, Elon Musk, and Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, as individuals who have exemplified resilience in adversity. These figures, she noted, serve as models for leaders aiming to create impactful and lasting change.
Resilience as a Catalyst for Innovation
Dr. Siaw Agyepong underscored the role of resilience in sparking innovation and problem-solving within organizations. She explained that businesses driven by resilient leaders are better equipped to navigate complexities and uncertainty, turning potential setbacks into opportunities.
“Resilient leadership is about driving change, staying grounded in purpose, and maintaining focus on the bigger picture,” she remarked.
Adding a personal dimension to her address, Dr. Siaw Agyepong recounted some of the challenges she and her husband, Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong, Executive Chairman of JGC, faced early in their journey. These experiences, she shared, were instrumental in building their resilience and shaping their leadership approaches.
Her speech was met with admiration and support from Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong, who praised her as a “wonderful and beautiful wife” and expressed pride in her achievements.
Dr. Siaw Agyepong urged participants to cultivate resilience in their respective fields while seeking strength and guidance from God. She encouraged them to remain steadfast in their visions and to embrace challenges as stepping stones to success. “Resilient leadership is rooted in purpose, and its fruits are transformational,” she concluded.
The Jospong Leadership Conference continues to serve as a vital platform for fostering leadership development within JGC. The 2025 edition, under the theme “Transformation through Leadership,” aligns with the group’s commitment to sustainable business practices and impactful change.
Participants left the session inspired by Dr. Siaw Agyepong’s insights and motivated to embrace resilience as a cornerstone of their leadership strategies. The conference highlighted the importance of fostering a culture of resilience, innovation, and adaptability to drive organizational growth.
