Total Petroleum Ghana Announces Payment of Dividend to Shareholders

Total Petroleum Ghana Plc (formerly Mobil Oil Ghana) has announced the payment of a final dividend of 67 pesewas per share to shareholders for the financial year ended December 31, 2021.

According to a circular from the Ghana Stock Exchange, all shareholders registered in the books of the firm by the close of business on Friday, July 1, 2022 will qualify for the final dividend. In view of the foregoing, the ex-dividend date has been set at Wednesday, June 29, 2022.

Consequently, this means that an investor purchasing Total shares before this date will be entitled to the final dividend.

However, the local bourse clarifies that an investor buying Total shares on or after Wednesday, June 29, 2022 will not be entitled to the final dividend. Meanwhile, the company noted that the final dividend will be paid from Friday, July 15, 2022.

Performance of Total Petroleum Ghana on GSE

Total Petroleum Ghana Limited is listed on the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE). Total Petroleum is traded on the GSE under the ticker symbol “TOTAL”. The International Securities Identification Number (ISIN) of GSE:TOTAL is GH0000000144. Total Petroleum Ghana Limited is currently the 15th most valuable stock on the GSE with a market capitalization of GHS 459 million, which makes about 0.737% of the Ghana Stock Exchange equity market.

The current share price of Total Petroleum Ghana Limited is GHS 4.10. The last time TOTAL traded on the GSE was Friday, June 3, 2022 which closed at GHS4.10 per share on the Ghana Stock Exchange. However, Total Petroleum began the year with a share price of GHS5.02 but has unfortunately lost 18.3 percent off that price valuation, ranking it 32nd on the GSE in terms of year-to-date performance. The company’s Year-to-date declined by 18.3 percent.

Total Petroleum Ghana is the 15th most traded stock on the Ghana Stock Exchange over the past three months (Mar 3 – Jun 6, 2022). TOTAL has traded a total volume of 222,556 shares valued at GHS 930,481 over the period, with an average of 3,533 traded shares per session. A volume high of 75,950 was achieved on 2nd June, 2022 for the same period.

In the intervening time, Total Petroleum Ghana Plc is a Ghanaian subsidiary company of the global Total Group which is the fourth largest publicly-traded integrated international Oil & Gas company in the world with presence in over 130 countries. Total, which began operations in Ghana as Total Oil Products, has undergone various transformations including the takeover of British Petroleum through Elf Oil and French TotalfinaElf. Subsequent to this was the global merger of Total and Elf which led to the incorporation of Total Petroleum Ghana Limited when Total Outre-Mer acquired Mobil Ghana.

Total Petroleum Ghana, which has been listed on the Ghana Stock Exchange since July 19, 1991, has a large network coverage in Ghana with more than 234 service stations represented in all the 10 regions of the country. The company is the first oil marketing company to be ISO 9001:2015 certified in Ghana and has also initiated a comprehensive investment program to be more ECO-friendly and also give priority to customer comfort and safety.
