Choosing the right ensemble for a red-carpet event can sometimes be an impossible feat to pull off. There is always pressure on stars to beat their record, dress to please their followers, share a few style tips, and step out of the box.
It involves taking risks when it comes to choosing the type of fabric, the color of the fabric, and the design to match perfectly with hairstyle, shoes, and accessories while considering the theme of the event.
The Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) is known to be full of glitz and glamour, giving way for industry players not to only exhibit their talents but to also showcase their fashion style.
For over two decades, the award show has honored legends of the music game in Ghana, motivated underground musicians to do more, and sparked a host of controversies around who should have won what, however, it all adds up to an interesting ride.
The red carpet is an interesting side attraction for the VGMAs. For two nights, guests and celebrities put on their A-game to ‘slay’. For some entertainers, they raised the bar so high and turned heads with their masterpieces. These entertainers obviously took a keen interest in their looks from hair, to makeup, and accessories, to the outfit itself, their ensemble was simply mesmerizing and well put together. These stars treated their fans to a spectacular red-carpet showcase.
While some celebrities were applauded for their stunning looks on the red carpet, others missed the mark. For some industry players, things did not turn out as they should, probably due to maybe hasty enthusiasm that comes with the quest to impress or maybe a misjudge from designers. For some, their outfit could have hit that ‘slay mark’ if not for a headpiece, or an accessory, that wasn’t sitting well with the whole look.

- As the host of the main night, Berla Mundi did not relent once again showing how fashionable she is. She graced the stage in a halter neck, high slit beaded gown which looked very dazzling. She finished off the look with a simple sleek ponytail hairstyle, classy makeup and a high heel.
2. Musician, Sefa also did justice with her look. She wore a black velvet gown with silver and red embellishments on it. Her hairstyle was simply a breath of fresh air as it complimented her ensemble perfectly.
3. For the two days event, if there is one person whose outfit screamed ‘chic’, then it will be Cina Soul. She made a statement with all her outfits she rocked for both nights. It was an absolute upgrade from last year’s outfit.
4. The man of the moment, Kidi didn’t only warm hearts with his performance but with his fashion style as well. As usual, Kidi kept a classy look throughout. Even one could easily tell that his outfit he used for performing was carefully put together.
5. Bringing on the African style in a three piece ‘Agbada’ was actor, Majid Michael. The colour of his outfit was perfect for his skin-tone. The head piece, sunglasses and shoes matched the outfit perfectly. Majid simply looked ravishing.
6. For Mawuli Gavor, this look is a much elevated one from what he wore last year. It seems this year, he came in well prepared just to stay off the list of the ‘worst dressed’ personalities. Aside his suit, his shoes were an eye-catcher which made a whole statement.
