The National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Emeka Rollas, has confirmed the untimely death of Nollywood actor Junior Pope.
This confirmation comes after a rollercoaster of emotions, with earlier reports suggesting hope followed by tragic finality.
Junior Pope reportedly met his demise in a devastating boat accident in Asaba, leaving his fans and followers reeling in shock and grief.
Emeka Rollas, who initially offered reassurance regarding the actor’s condition, was forced to backtrack and offer a somber apology for the confusion.
He explained that his initial optimism stemmed from observing movements in Junior Pope’s hands, only to later confront the grim reality of his passing.
Despite frantic efforts by medical teams at two prominent hospitals in Asaba, Junior Pope could not be revived.
“It’s so, so sad that our joy was short-lived. My first post was out of excitement when we noticed his tingling fingers. Two notable hospitals tried their best to revive him but to no avail. God knows best. We finally lost him.”

“A simple CPR would have saved his life immediately they brought him out of the river and then straight to the hospital but those around him were naive, sat him up, and were fanning him. Nigeria happened to you, unfortunately. May your gentle soul rest in peace.”

AGN Suspends All Movies Involving Riverine Areas

The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) took swift and decisive action following the tragic and untimely demise of popular actor Junior Pope.
The sad news of Junior Pope’s demise sent shockwaves throughout the Nigerian entertainment industry, sparking a wave of outcry and scrutiny on social media.
Many netizens expressed their outrage, directing criticism towards the movie producer Adamma Luke for allegedly failing to provide necessary safety measures, such as life jackets, during the filming of scenes involving water bodies.
In response to the public outcry and the tragic loss of one of its own, the AGN announced a series of measures aimed at ensuring the safety of its members.

Among these actions is the indefinite suspension of movie productions set in riverine areas.
This move is intended to prevent any further incidents similar to the one that claimed Junior Pope’s life.
Additionally, the AGN imposed a ban on actors collaborating with Adamma Luke as a producer in any movie.
In a memo circulated among its members, the AGN emphasized the importance of prioritizing safety protocols on set and urged actors and producers to adhere strictly to established guidelines to prevent avoidable accidents.
As a result of these measures, movie shoots scheduled to take place across the nation on Thursday, April 11, have been suspended until further notice.
