Ace actor, Arnold Schwarzenegger has been involved in a car accident in Los Angeles, his spokesman confirmed.
The four-vehicle car crash left one person with injuries, Los Angeles Police said. Images from the scene show a large SUV on top of at least two vehicles at an intersection in Brentwood. The actor can be seen standing nearby.
The Police disclosed that no arrest has been made and ruled out the involvement of drugs and alcohol. Officers did not identify those involved but the actor and former California governor’s spokesman confirmed to the Los Angeles Times that he was driving the SUV when the incident occurred.
A report by police noted that the SUV driver was “near the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Allenford Avenue, when a collision occurred with a red Prius making a U-turn as he continued through a ‘red arrow’ signal to turn left”.
The report further stated that the SUV rolled on top of the Prius and ended up hitting two other vehicles.
Photos making rounds on social media show a black GMC Yukon SUV on top of the Prius and a Porsche. One person was taken to hospital by ambulance, police disclosed, but the injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
Schwarzenegger’s spokesman revealed that the actor was uninjured and had spoken with emergency services and the injured person. The crash is currently under investigation.
Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Crashed Marriage
Amidst Arnold Schwarzenegger’s car crash is his marriage crash. Arnold and Maria Shriver, his estranged wife, recently officially divorced, a decade after separating.
Court documents revealed that a settlement was reached between the former California governor and the NBC journalist. However, financial terms were not made public.
After a 35-year marriage and four children together, Shriver filed for divorce in 2011 after Schwarzenegger disclosed he had fathered a child with a member of their household staff years earlier.
The revelation triggered a media frenzy, but the pair were keen to settle their divorce in private. It remains unclear as to why the settlement process took 10 years to reach. Since the couple’s children are adults, there is no child support or custody arrangements. Divorce papers also stated that neither owes the other any spousal support, however, both reserve the right to seek it through the courts in the future.
After a successful film career, Schwarzenegger turned to politics and was elected as California’s governor in 2003, following economic problems under the administration of Gray Davis. Schwarzenegger, a Republican, proved popular with voters and went on to serve two terms.
Within a year of leaving office, he admitted fathering a child, Joseph Baena, who is now 24, which prompted Shriver to file for divorce in July 2011.
The former governor has since returned to acting and starred with roles in ‘Terminator’ and ‘The Expendables’ films.
Shriver, who is the niece of President John F Kennedy, resigned as correspondent for NBC show Dateline when her husband announced he was running for governor. When he left office, she resumed her work as a TV presenter while campaigning on women’s issues and Alzheimer’s.
In 2018, she also published the bestseller, ‘I’ve Been Thinking… Reflections Prayers and Meditations for a Meaningful Life’.
