In the vibrant world of entertainment, particularly in music, the visual presentation of artists and attendees plays a crucial role in shaping public perception and setting cultural standards.
The Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA), a prestigious event celebrating the nation’s musical talents, has recently sparked discussions around the need for dress code enforcement, particularly by scrutinizing attendees’ outfits before they enter the venue.
Ghanaian media personality, Nana Romeo, has addressed organizers of the just-ended 2025 TGMA, describing their organization on the red carpet as poor.
Nana Romeo urged Charterhouse Productions to scrutinize the outfits of attendees before they enter the event venue.
Citing a lady named Benedicta Gyamfua, who he described as poorly dressed, the media personality indicated that such an occurrence could have been prevented.
“Going forward, I feel TGMAs should put some measures in place whereby we should scrutinise people. So, if you are not well-dressed for the event, you would not be allowed in there. If we keep encouraging such people to attend the event year in year out, a time would come when people would wear only panties at the event.”

The Telecel Ghana Music Awards is not just a celebration of musical talent; it is a significant cultural event that reflects the values and aspirations of Ghanaian society.

Allowing attendees to enter in inappropriate or overly casual attire undermines the event’s prestige and diminishes its importance in the eyes of the public.
A dress code serves as a visual representation of the respect and seriousness with which the event is regarded. By setting standards for attire, Charterhouse ensures that the awards are perceived as a high-profile occasion, encouraging attendees to present themselves in a manner befitting the significance of the event.
The Ghanaian music industry is rapidly evolving, with artists gaining recognition both locally and internationally. However, with this growth comes the responsibility to present a professional image.
By enforcing a dress code at the Telecel Ghana Music Awards, Charterhouse Production set a precedent for professionalism that extends beyond the event itself.
This initiative inspires artists to take their public appearances seriously, fostering a culture where image is aligned with artistry. When artists dress thoughtfully and appropriately, they not only enhance their brand but also elevate the perception of Ghanaian music on a global scale.
Charterhouse Productions Outfit Scrutiny: Fostering a Positive Cultural Image

Cultural representation is paramount in any society, and the way individuals present themselves at significant events influences public perception.
The Telecel Ghana Music Awards is an opportunity for Ghana to showcase its rich culture, creativity, and talent. By implementing a dress code, Charterhouse Productions encourages attendees to embrace traditional attire or stylish, contemporary outfits that reflect Ghana’s diverse heritage.
This initiative not only promotes cultural pride but also allows for a more cohesive and visually appealing event, where attendees collectively contribute to a positive representation of Ghanaian culture.
Nana Romeo, however, applauded fashion icon, Nana Akua Addo, for her outfit at the 2025 African Magic Viewers Choice Awards in Nigeria.
He also called on some netizens criticizing her for attending the event in Nigeria over Ghana to refrain from it.
“This is a lady who has taken fashion as a serious business. She wants to be known in the world based on a sense of fashion. Over the years, we all know TGMA has encouraged everybody on the red carpet; TikTokers, even DJ Azonto, wore anything he liked to the event. So, if you were Nana Akua Addo, you would not want to be on the same carpet with these people.
“Look at how Nigerians take fashion seriously. So, Nana Akua chose Nigeria over Ghana. She didn’t just go; they invited her, and that invitation comes with some incentive. So, if Nigeria is calling you for an event, you would choose the one that would work for you… Look at how she spent money on her outfit, and you think she would come and play with anybody. So, nobody should attack her for anything.”

The scrutiny of attendees’ outfits at the Telecel Ghana Music Awards by Charterhouse Productions is a necessary step towards maintaining the integrity of the event, promoting professionalism within the music industry, and fostering a positive cultural image.
A well-enforced dress code transforms the awards into a symbol of excellence and respect, encouraging both artists and attendees to take pride in their presentation.
As the Ghanaian music industry continues to thrive, events like the Telecel Ghana Music Awards must reflect the aspirations of its artists and the values of its society, ultimately paving the way for a brighter and more respected future in entertainment.
