In recent years, there has been a growing discourse around the importance of seeking protection and fortification against spiritual attacks.

Recently, a couple of actors, including the likes of Portia Asare, Borbor, and Kalybos, among others, have shared their experiences on the subject.

In an exclusive interview with the Vaultz News, Ghanaian actor and pastor, Daniel Delong, who has a career spanning over a decade, has shared an intriguing experience in the Ghanaian Movie Industry.

He revealed that as a pastor who has been through a lot of spiritual things, he can say for sure, that not everybody, but quite a number, goes for spiritual serious spiritual authority, and spiritual power, in their bid to stay relevant in the industry.

“You might say our industry is really small. But I’m telling you for a fact that for me like this, I pray to God, and I do it every day. There’s no set I go on I don’t pray. I pray so much. Even the script I get, I pray so much into it before I even carry the script.

“On my prayer altar at home, I have, in fact, pictures of actors I admire, and I even use them as a point of contact and pray that the Lord will preserve them and protect them against every attack that will come on them in the industry as the Lord protects me. There are some who also have their own, spiritual connection where they go to.”

Daniel Delong

He cited an example where an actor he knows, goes to the mountains every year and spends days there, praying that the Lord give him a good year in the industry, and that the Lord protect him and preserve him.

The actor mentioned how he saw that year in, and year out, he kept getting productions.

“Even when his colleagues are there and not doing anything, he keeps on getting productions to do, and it is because of that serious spiritual consistency. Don’t joke with it. It is true. People are doing all manner of things. I have seen some spiritually. I’ve heard some confess.”

Daniel Delong

He further revealed being a victim of a ‘juju’ spell, adding that an actor used the charm on him in 2008, and he only got to know in 2018.

“10 years when I was tired of the back and forth and everything, I gave up on acting, went into my set design,” he added.

Daniel Delong noted that going back into the industry, he went into serious fasting and prayers until he had the vision in a dream with confirmation by other men of God over his life and acting career.

However, the actor revealed that a great actor in the Ghana movie industry did that to him. He cited, saying, “I don’t hate that person. I still love that person, but all I see is it happens. That is all, so get straight.”

Industry Competition

There are people who clearly, have their motives for coming into the industry.

Daniel Delong stated that he is not in the industry to aspire to be famous but rather to be great.

“So the industry has competition. Yes, I know. I’m impacting people, and I strongly believe that greatness comes with fame automatically. But you see, some people do understand time, and they don’t understand what they carry.

“So they want to stay relevant, and whether their craft is as good as this claim or not, they’ll do everything to get favor in the eyes of producers and directors.

Daniel Delong

He maintained that some people use ‘juju’ on movie directors to gain favors in getting movie roles, adding that those charms do not last forever.

The actor further cited an example of a colleague actor who came on air to reveal how depression led him to the wrong places for spiritual stuff because he was not getting gigs.

“If you have been in the shoes of being popular and then suddenly nothing is coming, and the popularity is yielding no results, I’m telling you, you feel, like, doing certain things. For me, when we get to that, by the grace of God, I’ll resort to serious prayers and fasting. Some others too don’t have the chance to do that.”

Daniel Delong

Talking about social media, Delong admonished that he doesn’t mind people on social media.

“There are a lot of people who are depressed on that street called social media. And if you take what you see, you will just end up dying a foolish death. I’m telling you,” he stated.

He revealed that people’s health is attacked through ‘juju’ just by shaking hands, adding that suddenly, nothing happens to them anymore.

Daniel Delong mentioned that social media is the least of his worries.
