Ex-Manager Debunks Reports Of Death

Veteran Nollywood actor, Mr. Ibu

A former manager of veteran actor, John Okafor popularly known as Mr. Ibu, Chochoo has debunked rumors that the actor is dead.

Chochoo revealed contrary to the news making rounds on social media the actor who is currently ill is alive.

He further stated that Mr. Ibu is expected to go for surgery today or early Sunday morning.

According to Chochoo, people have ‘killed the actor online several times in the past two months’.

“He has been dying online for about two months now. I don’t know where they are getting the news from because online he is already dead but offline he is still alive. He is having another operation either today or tomorrow morning. I was his former manager but we are still very close. Online he is dead already but he is very much alive in reality,” Chochoo said.

Speaking on the issue of amputation of the actor’s leg due to diabetes, he disclosed that it is only two toes that are affected that may be cut off. In his words, the toes were ‘getting rotten’.

“He has had some complications based on his health but this time he is battling with diabetes. Contrary to reports online that they want to cut off his leg, the doctors advised him to cut off two toes because they have been affected by the illness because they were getting rotten,” Chochoo further added.

Update On Health Of Veteran Actor

VeryDarkMan, a social media personality and activist, gave an update on the health of veteran actor, Mr. Ibu.

In a post on his Instagram page, he disclosed that Mr. Ibu currently needs prayers because of his condition.

According to him, the donations being made for Mr. Ibu to take care of his health seem to be going to waste as he claimed that there has been no major improvement in the actor’s condition. He emphasized that Mr Ibu’s condition is deteriorating and that he requires additional prayers right now.

VerydarkMan further indicated that he believes Mr. Ibu will recover faster if he is taken abroad because Nigerian hospitals are inadequately equipped.

He also stated that the doctors want to perform another operation on him, but cannot do so because they are concerned that if he is injected with anesthetic, it will travel down to his heart and instantly kill him.

He also encouraged people to keep donating whatever they could, since it would help a lot.

Some of his colleagues have shown up by contributing some money to aid his treatment at the hospital, whereas another called on the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to use part of the election money contributed to assist the ailing veteran actor.

This comes only days after Mr. Ibu’s daughter, Jasmine Chioma, claimed that her father had just undergone two major surgeries.

Chioma claimed that Mr. Ibu is currently in the process of recovery, displaying resilience and wit even in the face of pain.

“Never seen anyone so strong… even after two major surgeries, you were still trying to be funny like nothing happened, even in your lowest you still cracked jokes! I promise you, if there’s a God in heaven, you are getting out of this bed, stronger and alive. This is the strongest I have seen you in 3 weeks and I’m so excited! Fight this and get well soon, sweet Papa,” Chioma wrote.

It can be recalled that on Tuesday, October 17, the Nollywood actor, marked his 62nd birthday in the hospital with his wife, children, and other close relations.

The actor was gifted a birthday cake displayed on a table for the celebration.
