Ghanaian TikToker Narrates Emotional Trauma After Childbirth

Obaa Cee

Popular Ghanaian TikToker, Obaa Cee, has recalled the tumultuous journey of her failed marriage, disclosing deeply troubling episodes of abandonment and emotional distress.

Obaa Cee recounted how her marital woes began, stemming from her husband’s abandonment during crucial moments of childbirth.

Six years after she had her first child out of wedlock, Obaa Cee found herself pregnant with their second child, only for her spouse to propose an abortion.

“His reason was that he did not have money to take care of a child. Even when we got married, I gave birth so how does he expect me to abort a child now that we were married? So, he said he wouldn’t take responsibility if I refused to abort the child and I thought he was kidding.”

Obaa Cee detailed how her husband’s abandonment persisted, recounting the agonizing experience of once again being left alone at the hospital after childbirth.

She noted that her first experience of being abandoned at the hospital was when she gave birth out of wedlock. She did not expect such treatment to be meted out to her again but the narrative was not so.

The TikToker expressed that although her husband had covered the medical expenses, she still struggled with the emotional burden of his absence and the added financial pressure. Despite his contribution, she felt that the amount he provided wasn’t sufficient to meet her needs.

“I refused to take the little housekeeping money,” Obaa Cee said.

Her resolve only led to further neglect, as her husband ceased financial support altogether, leaving her to navigate the challenges of single motherhood alone.

The final blow came just 40 days postpartum when Obaa Cee received news of her husband’s decision to divorce her, delivered through his family members.

“Her sisters came home, gave me an amount, and said the man says he can’t marry me anymore, and that was it,” she recounted.

Meanwhile, Obaa Cee disclosed that her husband was the one who took her virginity.

“When I met him, I knew no other man. We dated for four years before welcoming our first child. At the time of our marriage, he resided in Asafo while I lived with my mother in Krofrom, both suburbs of Kumasi. I was around 23 years old when we began this journey.”

Obaa Cee stated that she is now happily married to a Ghanaian based in the United States. According to her, they have been happily married for fourteen years now. The current husband, she noted has been extremely helpful.

Obaa Cee shared her experience with well-known Ghanaian musician, Dennis Nana Dwamena, better known as KiDi, at an event.

She recounted that before his performance in the United States of America (USA) for an awards event some months ago, she actively promoted his appearance on her social media channels and the radio station where she works.

“Before his arrival [in the US], I was the one advertising him [KiDi] to the public for commercials. People from neighboring towns attended because of my promotions. I could have charged a fee, but since we’re from the same hometown I didn’t ask for anything.

“I hoped for a personal moment with him, maybe even a photo. But when I approached him, he crossed his arms, signaling he wasn’t open to interacting, and he completely ignored me. That incident left me feeling embarrassed.”

The TikToker stated that despite the pain she endured, she had forgiven the artist.

The video of this encounter quickly spread on TikTok, eliciting responses from Ghanaians.

Numerous social media users commented on the video to voice their dissatisfaction with KiDi’s conduct, criticizing it as impolite and unbecoming for a public figure.
