Nigerian rapper, Chibuzor Nelson Azubuike, popularly known as Phyno, has said he was advised to join a cult group or engage in ritual if he wished to succeed in his music career.

Ezege, as his colleagues fondly call him, revealed he has never been a believer in “quick success” but one who would rather consistently put in hard work to achieve his goals.

In a lengthy post via his verified Instagram handle on Monday, the artist said during his days as a struggling artiste, he faced many challenges in the music industry.

Phyno advised young artists to checkmate their thirst for quick success and be weary of signing with just any record label out of desperation regardless of their terms and conditions, which most times are unfavorable.

He explained when some of these label bosses sense the desperation in these young talents, they capitalize on it and take undue advantage of them, making them sign contracts that’ll be to their detriment one way or another.

“Some people look at us today and think we got it easy, Not at all. In fact, I’ve never loved easy things. Before many people heard of Phyno, I’d had songs that no one knew existed”, Phyno said.

“A couple of friends told me to blow, I must join a cult or sacrifice something or someone, I told him the price is too much. I’ll never do such. I believed in myself and the power of hard work, I started little, and today I thank God. Young talents need to relax, do not be desperate about record deals or being in the spotlight. Keep working, when it’s time you’ll shine. Imagine begging a label to sign you, what kind of terms will they give you? They already know you are desperate, and they will use you”.

“At the beginning, you might not see it but give it time, and you’ll regret it. Nothing pays more than hard work and consistency”, he further stated.

It is reported that Phyno stated this following the death of the Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, and the controversies surrounding the unfortunate event.

With his unique style and talent, Phyno is set to make a strong comeback, delivering captivating tracks for his dedicated followers.

The artist mentioned that he took some time off from his music career to fully prepare for the arrival of his baby. Becoming a father has been a wholesome and fulfilling experience for him. Phyno is ready to make a return to the music scene and continue doing what he does best.

During his time away, Phyno was working on new music and an upcoming album. Fans can expect to hear more from him as he dives back into his passion for creating music.

As Phyno embarks on this new journey of fatherhood, he is grateful for the immense love and support he has received from his fans throughout the years. He looks forward to sharing more of his musical creations with them and making them proud.

With his return to the music scene, audiences can anticipate Phyno’s unique blend of captivating beats, meaningful lyrics, and infectious energy. The rapper’s talent and dedication to his craft have earned him a special place in the Nigerian music industry, and his comeback will undoubtedly be met with excitement and anticipation.
