Veteran Ghanaian singer, Yaw Sarpong has disclosed that he has;featured ace Ghanaian singer, Stonebwoy on a song and he will be releasing it soon.
Speaking in an interview, the gospel singer who has several songs with other secular artists disclosed that for now, he will be releasing some single tracks. He also disclosed that he will be collaborating with the secular artists for an album.
“I have 26 albums all released within my 43 years of being in the music industry. But we are releasing single tracks for now. I have a song with Sarkodie, Kofi Kinata, and Samini. I have a song with Stonebwoy and it’s yet to be released. We are planning on lining them up for an album with those guys”.
Speaking about his journey in the music industry, Yaw mentioned that there has never been a day where he regreted his decision to be in the music industry. He also emphasized on the fact that it hasn’t been an easy journey but according to him, his determination and the grace of God has brought him this far.
“It wasn’t an easy journey but God has been good. I think what has kept me going is determination and the grace of God. Because without him I wouldn’t be here. 43 years isn’t an easy journey, so I thank God. There has been no time where I have regretted being in the music industry. I believe this is my purpose in life, so I am glad to be doing it and achieving all that I set out to do”.
Ghastly accident inspires Yaw Sarpong’s ‘Aseda’
Speaking about the inspiration behind his latest song ‘Aseda’ he recounted how he and his family as well as his music partner, Tiwaa, were involved in a ghastly accident. He disclosed that after news broke out that he was involved in an accident, some reports had it that he was dead. However, they later got the information that he was still alive and no one died. He further asked that government should fix the road since it’s one major cause of accidents in the country.
“Last year in October, I was traveling to Kumasi with Tiwaa and my children, and we got into a very terrible accident. As I said, God always takes me out of trouble. I was asleep and didn’t know what was going on. I woke up and I was at the hospital. But thankfully no one died. We just got injured, but we all survived. Some media houses were even saying that I was dead and all that but later they got to know that I was alive. So, it became necessary that I write this song and thank God for everything.
“The road was so small, I think that also amounts to the reason why the accident occurred. If only government will listen to our humble plea and fix the road, it will really help reduce these accidents. Because we have said this time and again to fix it. If God was not on my side, I would have died with my family”.
