Ghanaian reggae and dancehall artist, Jah Lead, has retracted a statement he made about a month ago, threatening to beat up music producer JMJ.
The artist explained that his outburst was a result of some personal issues he was dealing with, citing the loss of someone closer to him and marital issues.
When asked if he still stood by his previous comments that he would beat JMJ mercilessly, Jah Lead expressed his love.
“Honestly, JMJ is my brother. I love him. I would never assault him, to be honest. I will never do that. I think emotions had gotten intense… I retract that statement I made. I’ll never assault him. I appreciate him for whatever we have gotten out of it. We can both continue with our lives.”
Jah Lead
On March 17, 2025, Jah Lead threatened to assault JMJ for depriving him of revenue from a song (Lonely) they both own.
The feud between Jah Lead and JMJ started over a song for the latter’s “Riddim of the Gods” project.
The dancehall artist claimed that JMJ had blocked his song on Audiomack, despite having more streams on his account. He accused JMJ of pitching the work to Boomplay and taking money without his consent.
Jah Lead’s apology and retraction of his statement mark a potential end to the feud between the two artists.
A very good songwriter, Jah Lead is the source for the lyrics of his songs and even provides lyrics for others. One of the names he mentioned was Kofi Kinaata, explaining that he wrote the Patois lyrics in the Fante rapper’s Play (More Mbelede) song.
The artist who is very versatile prefers not to be boxed into one music genre saying he does Dancehall, Highlife, Afrobeat, and other genres effortlessly.
Going into the future, the dancehall artist wants to put out more records, get God’s guidance, and be more prolific in his career.
In the meantime, Jah Lead has released a new song titled ‘Hand of Jah’, a song that he believes frees him to be himself.
Jah Lead, JMJ Hint at New Collaboration
After a heated feud, Ghanaian reggae and dancehall artiste Jah Lead and music producer JMJ may be working together again.
Jah Lead and JMJ discussed the possibility of collaborating on new music.
When asked if he would work with JMJ after the apology, the dancehall artist said he already had two unreleased songs with JMJ.
Confirming his assertion, JMJ responded, “I remember we had a lot of records unfinished, but the truth of the matter is the studio where we used to do that is no longer in existence. I’ve lost most of my files.”
The host proposed a solution: “Let’s do new music. Let’s do new music, produced by JMJ.”
JMJ expressed his willingness to collaborate, clearing the air that he’s never had a malice against Jah Lead.
“I have no malice. I have no bad intentions. The very feeling I had with him from day one to give him a hit song and propel his career is the same feeling I have today.”
JMJ
However, Jah Lead has since apologised and retracted his statement threatening to assault JMJ, citing personal issues and emotions getting intense.
In 2017, Kaakie parted ways with JMJ’s Xtra Large music after producing hit songs such as ‘Too Much’, ‘Koomcha’, ‘DC Turn Up’, ‘Zuuchia’, among others.
Apart from working with Kaakie, JMJ has done productions for artists such as Samini, 4×4, Bryan The Mensah, Kofi Jamar, Obrafour, Amerado, Strongman, Stonebwoy, Mugeez, Iwan, Jupitar, among a blizzard of other celebrated artists.
