American singer, Jason Derulo let his wild side out in the lobby of a Las Vegas casino when he allegedly attacked two men, one of whom shouted “fuck you bitch” at him and called him “Usher,” according to video showing the incident.
The video shows the 32-year-old crooner pouncing on the hecklers at the Aria Resort and Casino while coming off an escalator and passing a group of onlookers who had taken out their phones to capture their encounter with the musician on video.
In a clip posted by TMZ, someone in the crowd could be heard shouting, “’Ayo’, why did you slap him, dawg?” and then a separate voice yelled “Hey Usher, fuck you, bitch!” in an apparent reference to another recording artist, Usher.
It was unclear whether the heckler really thought Derulo was Usher or was making a wisecrack about the two music stars’ resemblance, but the profane insult seemed to set Derulo off. He hopped over a security rope and allegedly punched the man, forcing bodyguards and several other people in the area to try to intervene.
The video also showed Derulo attacking another man and tussling with him on the ground as more people try to seperate them apart. The man recording the video shouted, “Don’t touch my boy!” as he backed away.
In a separate video posted by social media user @christian_labare8, Derulo was being taken away in handcuffs. Although the ‘Swalla’ singer was cuffed, it was unclear if the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department issued any charges against him.
In a statement, the local police department, LVMPD, later responded and said, “The victims opted not to press charges against the celebrity, and no report was taken, as Derulo was not cited or arrested for the incident”.
However, according to TMZ, Jason Derulo was removed from the property and issued a no trespassing notice.
The men who were attacked reportedly suffered facial wounds, but did not require hospitalization. Meanwhile, Jason Derulo has not yet commented on the incident on social media. A rep for Aria Resort and Casino also declined to comment.
Interestingly, several fans online are defending Derulo over the decision to fight the person who trolled him.
“Never thought I’d ever be proud of Jason Derulo until now”, one person wrote. Another added, “So glad [Jason Derulo] handled those racist jerks. People think they can say anything. Well, they both got their racist ass handed back to them”.
Well, Jason Derulo does not appear to have a reputation for fighting and has since been focused on fatherhood since the birth of his seven-month-old son Jason King. He shares the little one with ex Jena Frumes, whom he split from in September 2021, after over a year of dating.
Jason broke the news of the split on Twitter, writing to his fans, “Jena and I have decided to part ways. She is an amazing mother but we feel being apart at this time will allow us to be the best versions of ourselves and the best parents we could be. Please respect our privacy in this time”.
However, the duo have not let their split stop them from amicably co-parenting their son.
