Total valid votes cast stood at 77,604 with 595 being invalid votes.

Lydia Alhassan, in a celebratory post on Facebook wrote:

“Thank you God for an answered prayer. Thank you Ayawaso West Wuogon for this Victory. I take my scripture from Proverbs 21:31”.

Several of her followers congratulated her on her victory and tasked her to work diligently.

Meanwhile, the actor, John Dumelo, is yet to break his silence on the results, which is the best number of votes the  NDC has recorded in that particular constituency.

JOHN
John Dumelo, a Ghanaian actor turned politician.

It can be recalled that John Dumelo, said in an interview that if he should lose the 2020 Elections, his first political attempt, he would never give up.

John further added that he would go back to the drawing board to work hard, strategize, and come back big.

He also noted that he draws his strength from the resilience of experiences of Akufo-Addo, former president John Agyekum Kuffuor, and the late former president John Evans Atta-Mills.

He explained that though these people lost elections several times, they bounced back and won eventually.

The Ayawaso West Wuogon constituencies has gained premium in this year’s elections due to John Dumelo’s decision to contest the seat, with litany of contentions and backlashes gaining center stage.

John Dumelo, during a debate, insinuated that Lydia Alhassan, had insulted him and this buzzed all over social media.

A few weeks after this altercation, a comment made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Shirley Ayorkor-Botchway, caused some controversy as some people in the creative industry felt insulted by her comments made against the NDC parliamentary candidate, claiming he was only riding on his popularity to become an MP and that the parliament was meant for ‘serious people’.

As if all that ruckus was not enough, days later, colleagues of John Dumelo allegedly thronged the constituency he was vying for, to campaign against him.

Following this, some colleagues of John Dumelo also came out to support him and even took to the streets to campaign for him.

That notwithstanding, the moviemaker was sure of victory as he had concluded that the incumbent MP, Lydia Alhassan had disappointed the electorate of the West Wuogon constituency.
