The wife of the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon revealed this at the swearing-in ceremony of President John Dramani Mahama and Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang on January 7, 2025, at the Black Star Square in Accra.
“I will be supporting my husband, John Dumelo, by focusing on empowering women and children to help lighten his load,” Gifty Dumelo shared, highlighting her dedication to complementing her husband’s efforts as he serves in his political capacity.
The event coincided with the inauguration of the 9th Parliament of the Fourth Republic in the early hours of January 7, 2025.

The actor-turned-politician made this pledge during his first media interaction following his swearing-in at the 9th Parliament of Ghana.
Dumelo, one of 275 MPs inaugurated in the early hours of the day, expressed both excitement and a deep sense of responsibility as he begins his term in office.
He urged his constituents to support his journey with prayers and constructive criticism, emphasizing his commitment to serving their best interests.
In his remarks, Dumelo reflected on the challenges and triumphs leading up to his election. He admitted to moments of self-doubt during his campaign but shared his belief that his victory was part of a larger purpose to uplift the people of Ayawaso West Wuogon.
“There were times when I questioned myself as to who sent me on this journey. But there were also moments when it felt clear that I was meant to be here to redeem Ayawaso West Wuogon. I am excited to represent my people and will do everything within my abilities to serve them well.”
