Ghanaian Highlife and Afrobeat singer and songwriter King Promise seems to be having a good year already as he hints at a collaboration with American singer and rapper, Chance the Rapper.
King Promise narrating how he had the opportunity to meet Chance the Rapper, the ‘Oh Yeah’ hitmaker disclosed that it was through Vic Mensah. According to King Promise, he was out of town but met up with the rapper immediately he got back.
“Vic introduced me to Chance. We made a song that night, but we have a lot we are working on”.

King Promise stated that he never envisaged working with the American singer even though he has been a fan of his music and craft. King Promise expressing his delight said: “I didn’t know we could meet up one day. We made some ‘sick’ stuff. There are so many great prospects coming in the pipeline”.
In the same vein, King Promise speaking about his latest song, ‘Chop Life’, which features Patoranking revealed that the video for the song has been shot and will be released in a few weeks. He therefore, admonished his fans to watch out for it.
Speaking on his highlights in 2021, the award-winning Afrobeat artiste noted that earning a nomination for the 2021 Music of Black Origin (MOBO) Awards was a big achievement.
It can be recalled that The ‘CCTV’ hitmaker was nominated for Best African Act, making him the only Ghanaian musician in the awards scheme that celebrates the best of music from Black Origin. Many attributed this feat to the huge waves he made on the international music market when he performed at the O2 Arena in London for Wizkid’s show.
Again, King Promise marked an outstanding mark hi in Ghana with a sold-out third edition of PromiseLand Concert, which was graced with the presence of legendary musicians like Ofori Amponsah.
Speaking on his performance with Ofori Amponsah, King Promise mentioned that he has always looked up to Ofori Amponsah for personal and career inspiration. King Promise further revealed, “We have a four-track EP together with Killbeatz. So, it was just right for him to get on stage with me. It was an amazing experience”.
According to King Promise, he sees himself as a bridge between old school and new school musicians. And that explains his collaboration with Ofori Amponsah. Not only has he been collaborating with Ghanaian acts, but he has also established contact with well doing global musicians like Wizkid, Mr. Eazi, Vic Mensah, Chance the Rapper, and others. The prolific Afrobeat singer admitted that he has learned a lot from these hugely successful global artists and how they go about their music business.
Amid King Promise’s music success lies a deep worrying case of alleged “disrespect” for CEO of 3Music Awards, Sadiq Abdulai. Sadiq revealed in a Facebook post that King Promise and his team disrespected him. As claimed by Baba Sadiq, the incident unfolded when he wanted King Promise to perform at the first-ever edition of the Wildaland Festival.
After being quiet about the issue for a very long time, King Promise during the interview responded to these allegations. King Promise, refuted the claims made by Sadiq and stated that he is not hurt by the harsh words since he has never disrespected Sadiq in any way.
“When you have done something, then it gets to you, but I haven’t done anything. I was looking forward to performing at Wildaland. It looked beautiful, but we didn’t come to an agreement”.

King Promise further acknowledged that “Sadiq is a very integral part of the industry” who he has known before coming into the limelight. King Promise then explained that he has not spoken to Sadiq in a long time. According to King Promise, he didn’t know that Sadiq had a problem with him the last time they met.
“I haven’t spoken to him, so how can I disrespect him. The whole issue was just arriving at an understanding, but I think it could have been handled differently”.

The ‘Slow Down’ hitmaker emphasized that the entertainment industry is facing challenges that need solutions. Hence, it isn’t prudent to promote division.
“I’m not about tearing down. We are already behind when it comes to a whole lot of stuff. So, we can’t be promoting division. For me, I will never speak on anything. Some people know I won’t speak on anything. So, they go ahead and say whatever they want to say against me”.
