Legacy Life Entertainment signee, King Promise has averred that, he is unfazed about not winning an award since according to him it doesn’t put money in his pocket.
Over the years, King Promise has been teased on social media for earning several nominations for his outstanding songs, however, he hardly wins those awards. Speaking on the back of this, King Promise noted that he is doing his music to make others happy and also to generate income. Therefore, his main focus isn’t about bagging awards. According to him, an award is just an add-on to show that an artist has worked hard.
“I don’t bother myself too much about awards because it doesn’t put any money in my pocket”.
“I am not saying I don’t like awards because obviously, it is an appreciation of the job. And it’s nice to know that you’ve been recognized but, that’s not. My main focus, my focus is about doing good music and making money through streaming of my songs”
Meanwhile, King promise has earned three nominations for the upcoming Vodafone Ghana Music Awards. He has been nominated for the ‘Vodafone popular song’, ‘Best afrobeats/afropop song’ and ‘Best afrobeats/afropop artiste’. He has been tipped by many to pick an award or two considering his output last year.
King Promise asks Ghanaians to celebrate Killbeatz
Nonetheless, King Promise, in the same vein touched on support in the music industry. He noted that Ghanaian Record producer, Killbeatz has not been celebrated enough for his “enormous contribution to the music industry”.
It is worth noting that Killbeatz has worked with A-lists artists such as Sarkodie, Wizkid, and international superstar, Ed Sheeran. Killbeatz has even gone ahead to be the first Ghanaian producer to win a certificate of acknowledgment at the 2018 Grammy’s for producing the hit single ‘Bibia Be Ye Ye’. Commenting on this, King Promise stated that the milestones and strides that Killbeatz has been able to achieve are very commendable, therefore he deserves to be celebrated.
“I think there is more to be done since he is someone who has done so many things that no one has been able to do before. He’s been to the Grammys and has achieved a lot and has worked with almost every big band or big artist across Ghana, West Africa, and also the UK”.
That notwithstanding, King Promise in recent times has been seen on countless occasions hanging out with Nigerian singer, Mr. Eazi. They have also collaborated on several songs which have become hits including ‘Oh yeah remix’, ‘Dabebi’, ‘Baby I’m jealous’ among others. When asked why he has so many collaborations with Mr. Eazi and the status of their relationship, King Promise said:
“Yeah, Mr. Eazi is one of my closest friends. He’s my best friend and I have known him for a very long time. I knew Mr. Eazi even before I did any collaboration with him. So, he’s really a great friend of mine.
