Rockstar Kuami Eugene has insisted that he used to write songs for his former colleague, MzVee.

He stated that helping other musicians to write songs at Lynx Entertainment was not part of the contract they signed, however, the label mates loved one another, and that made them assist one another.

He thus revealed that he had written many songs for MzVee in the previous years when she was part of the Lynx Entertainment team.

According to him, some of the songs he wrote for her such as “Daavi” and “Come and See My Mother” got the musician the recognition.

He further added that with “Come and See My Mother” he wrote it with the support of Lynx Entertainment boss, Richie Mensah but with “Daavi”, “Bend Down” and “Rewind”, he wrote everything alone.

“What it is, we were label mates. We have some massive love for each other. And there was work that went on in the label that you saw the outcome. I don’t think it’s appropriate to say how it came because there is no way someone will benefit something from it,” Kwami Eugene said.

He however refuted claims of saying on air that his former colleague, MzVee betrayed him because according to him, Mzvee even helped him and KiDi to become who they are now.

“I didn’t say she betrayed me in any way but then again I have never opened my mouth to say she has betrayed me, You understand? I even said that I owed her. I should say ‘Thank you’ in a way to her because Richie used the level she was at that time to lift both of us; Myself and KiDi. So we have some ‘Thank you’ actually say to MzVee”, the musician said.

He noted that even though he was hurt by some comments made by MzVee, he holds no grudges with her, adding that they’re both doing so well in the entertainment industry.

Kwami Eugene Feels Outgrown Awards

Kuami Eugene stated emphatically that he no longer pays much attention to getting awards as a musician.

He further added that after 8 years in the game, he has grown past awards, hence, getting awards is not his ultimate goal as a musician.

“I mean we have grown past awards, we have not grown past awards as it is seen because it is very important, it gives you the recognition”, he said.

The musician noted that he has not coincidentally released a hit song, adding that all his hit songs were written, sung, and promoted very well to get the feedback they got.

Kuami Eugene claims award is not the yardstick for being a successful musician or having a successful hit song.

Citing an example, the Rockstar revealed that Ckay of Nigeria had his “Love Nwantintin” all over, however, he was unable to get an award for it.

Meanwhile, according to Kuami Eugene, despite Ckay’s inability to win awards for his viral “Love Nwantintin” song, he is making a lot of money more than people who won awards and have one of the best songs in Nigeria.

Kuami Eugene further stated that he could list a lot of musicians including himself that are getting a lot of streams and making a lot of money from their music but are not taking any awards.

When asked about things that do not tremble him anymore as a musician but used to tremble him, “That is the awards I am talking about. Awards are part. You being comfortable should be your top priority than being pressured to do something you’re not comfortable with,” the Rockstar said.
