Ghanaian rapper, Kweku Flick, has shared how he outsmarted a fraudster in Kumasi after being scammed with fake phone tiles, igniting discussions on street justice and self-defense tactics.
Kweku Flick recounted a surprising experience from his teenage years involving a phone scam and his daring act of retaliation.
The “Money” hitmaker recalled being duped while in his final year of Junior High School (JHS 3) in Kumasi’s busy Adum PZ area.
“I was contacted by someone who tried to sell me a phone, saying that he was in a rush and that I should buy it right away. I exchanged my phone and some of the school fees that I had on me.”

To his dismay, when he eventually opened the package, he discovered he had been deceived. “By the time I finally opened the package, it was floor tiles that had been glued together that I was holding,” he stated.

Desperate to get revenge, Kweku Flick went back to the same spot in the hopes of facing the con artist or apprehending another.
“I spotted another guy doing the same thing. He approached me and told me the same story, but this time I was prepared, so I expressed interest in buying the phone and asked him to tell me the PIN to the phone so I could unlock it and go through it.”

As soon as he got the phone, Kweku Flick went to get assistance. “I saw an older man approaching and ran to him crying that the seller was a thief trying to steal my phone,” he said.
Flick easily unlocked the phone when the guy requested him to show his ownership. The suspected scammer was detained by the elder man, which provided Kweku Flick with the ideal opportunity to flee.
“I did, and as I rushed, the man restrained the vendor. They chased me from Adum PZ to the Kumasi Cultural Centre, where I managed to evade them.”

The incident, though traumatic at the time, remains a memorable story from the artist’s youth—one that highlights both the dangers of street scams and the wit he displayed even as a teenager.
Kweku Flick on Not Winning Awards

With songs such as ‘Money’, ‘Awake’, and ‘Ewiase’ occupying enviable positions on music charts, winning awards shouldn’t have been a struggle for fast-rising rapper Kweku Flick.
One would have thought he would have bagged a few by now but Kweku Flick is unfazed. He is confident his time to win awards will come, despite being overlooked in recent award nominations.
Kweku Flick, who has been making headlines and gained major boost for his career following his feature on Sarkodie’s Messiah in December last year, pointed out that he remained optimistic about his future prospects with regard to winning awards.
“I believe in time, so I know it will get to a time when this same question will turn into ‘You have been winning all the major awards in and outside the country, what’s the magic?’ I do appreciate everything, and I have never felt disappointed. Very soon, y’all will understand.”

For a young act growing and finding a place in the music space, it surely is a thing of pride to have one of the best in the industry feature you on their songs.
In December last year, Kweku Flick gained lots of eyeballs following his skillful rap delivery on Sarkodie’s Messiah.
While he has been celebrated for the performance, he was full of praises for Sarkodie for believing in him to get the work done.
