Ghanaian Dancehall musician, Shatta Wale has expressed his dissatisfaction over the current happenings between the youth and the security agencies in the country.

This follows a clash between some military officers and the youth of Ejura which claimed the lives of two persons while others sustained injuries. The youth were protesting following the killing of one social activist, Ibrahim Anyass known as Macho Kaaka.

Following this, Shatta Wale took to Twitter and stated that he doesn’t understand why people are still on various social media platforms shouting #FixTheCountry and encouraging the youth to get to the streets and protest while the police and the military have started shooting protesters.

He urged the youth to stop these protests on the streets because the trending #FixTheCountry protest is now getting bloodier and the youth need to restrain themselves from this protest which has seen three persons died so far.

“You are there watching bullets enter people’s children and you still screaming fix the country… Let’s stop this it won’t end well… I DONT WANT NO WAR!!! #AYOO”.

Let’s stop this it won’t end well ..

I DONT WANT NO WAR !!! #AYOO

— SHATTA WALE (@shattawalegh) June 30, 2021

That notwithstanding, Shatta Wale also slammed those who are fueling the #FixTheCountry protest on Twitter. According to him, the instigators of the protest are “sitting in their homes and tweeting big English and long essays without getting involve in what’s going on in the streets”.

It’s not fix the country
It’s #Youcandobetter

To encourage them to be rapid in their doings.

Whoever start this fix ting dierrrr ,why you want bring war

Cuz Twitter people can fight on the streets ooo

We all suffering my guy !! Ghana no easy but let’s respect the peace 🙏🏻

— SHATTA WALE (@shattawalegh) June 30, 2021

Meanwhile, some netizens who sighted Shatta Wale’s tweet were not entirely happy about it. According to them, Shatta Wale supported the #EndSars protest and went as far as to record a song to support the movement. Therefore, they don’t understand his current actions towards his own people in Ghana.

However, some are of the view that Shatta Wale is right in asking the conveners of the #FixTheCpountry protest to stop. They explained the protest has not helped in making the country better but rather worse by each day. Some reactions to Shatta Wale’s post read:

Gyimiiii but you same Wale even played a song for the Nigeria when #EndSars was going on ..

Well, other industry players have taken to social media to also share their views on the issue. Unlike Shatta Wale who pinned the unfortunate tragedy to the online protesters, they rather pinned it to leaders who have remained silent about the whole situation.

Ghanaian rapper, Kwesi Arthur for instance tagged the leaders as “gluttons” who don’t care about the life and welfare of the ordinary Ghanaian. He also sent his condolences to the family of the two persons who were shot during the clash at Ejura.

Taking to His Twitter, he wrote; “Peace to all the families who lost their people because of these gluttons we call leaders who don’t care.”.

Peace to all the families who lost thema people cos of these gluttons we dey call leaders.

Also, Ghanaian actor, Prince David Osei in reaction to the tragic issue stated that the approach used by the Military Service was not the best. According to him, if care is not taken, the peace that is being enjoyed in Ghana would be destroyed.

He wrote on Twitter: “Aiming at protesters and shooting at them is a NO-NO. What happened to tear gas, rubber bullets… let’s pray for Ghana… Ghana ‘like joke like joke’ we about destroying the peace we enjoy as a nation!! A few weeks ago, we were voted as the 2nd most peaceful country in Africa! #pray4Ghana”.
