The Ghanaian entertainment industry has gathered to celebrate the milestone birthday of one of its most beloved icons, Grace Omaboe, popularly known as Maame Dokono.

The legendary actress, singer, and TV personality marked her 80th birthday with a grand celebration and the launch of her memoir at The Underbridge in East Legon, Accra.

Maame Dokono’s career spans over five decades, during which she has made an indelible mark on the Ghanaian entertainment industry.

Born on June 10, 1941, in Birim North District of the Eastern Region, Maame Dokono began her career in the 1960s as a singer and actress. She quickly gained popularity for her unique voice and captivating stage presence.

In the 1970s and 1980s, Maame Dokono became a household name in Ghana, starring in numerous films and television shows.
Her iconic roles in productions such as “Obra” and “Keteke” endeared her to nationwide audiences.

She also made significant contributions to the Ghanaian music industry, releasing several hit songs that remain popular to this day.

Throughout her career, Maame Dokono has received numerous awards and accolades for her contributions to the entertainment industry. She has been recognized for her tireless efforts to promote Ghanaian culture and arts locally and internationally.

A host of dignitaries, including politicians, celebrities, and industry stakeholders attended the 80th birthday celebration and book launch.

At Maame Dokono’s 80th birthday celebration, a giant eight-tier cake decorated with her pictures was cut. Friends and A-list celebrities joined her in cutting the cake amid singing and cheers from guests.

Other stars, such as actors Fred Amugi and David Dontoh, diminutive actress Adwoa Smart, actress Lydis Forson, and members of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, among others, graced the occasion.

The event was a testament to Maame Dokono’s enduring legacy and impact on the Ghanaian entertainment industry.

In her memoir, Maame Dokono shares her life story, including her experiences in the entertainment industry, her challenges, and her triumphs.

In attendance at the celebration were Maame Dokono’s children, who stole the show with their star-studded corset gowns and agbada. In the lovely videos on social media, Maame Dokono’s fifth child, Sabrina Adarkwa, was seen arriving at her mother’s 80th birthday celebration with her two sisters.

They rocked matching blue lace corset gowns that accentuated their fine curves. Their frontal lace wigs were neatly done, and their makeup was flawless, elevating their beauty. Their brother, Samuel Nana Adarkwa, wore a beautiful black agbada and a traditional black cap.

The comment sections of the videos were filled with people’s admiration for Maame Dokono’s daughters. Many people talked about their gorgeous appearance in their star-studded corset gown at her 80th birthday party.

Some fans also discussed the striking resemblance between one of Maame Dokono’s daughters and afro dancehall musician Fantana.

Actress and media personality Nana Ama McBrown was at the 80th birthday party of veteran actress and television personality Grace Omaboe, aka Maame Dokono.

At Maame Dokono’s book launch and 80th birthday party, Nana Ama McBrown was there to show her love and to celebrate her.

In a video circulating on social media, Maame Dokono was seated around a table with close friends when McBrown approached her and sprayed GH¢100 notes on her while singing and dancing.

The video warmed the hearts of many social media users who talked about Mrs McBrown Mensah’s generosity. Others also talked about Maame Dokono being McBrown’s idol and how they admired how she celebrated her 80th birthday.
