Ghanaian music sensation, Medikal, known as MDK, has recently shed light on his personal life.
The rapper openly discussed how he took a step away from social media and disconnected communication with his management team amidst his separation from his ex-wife and co-parenting journey.
He described how he removed his SIM card from his phone to disconnect it completely.
This drastic step was part of his effort to find peace, heal, and have his privacy during this challenging time. “It wasn’t a lie. I took out my SIM, and I blocked my manager as well,” Medikal said.
Despite these personal hurdles, Medikal reassured his role as a co-parent. “Her mom is taking good care of her, we are all taking good care of her,” he further noted.
Medikal responded to why he was so vocal about the details of his separation.
“That is the best way. Afi ease my pain-to be vocal. I’m like yo, this is what it is. Everybody for shut up and then listen to me and then move on.”

The artist was asked if he’s dating the First Lady [sister Deborah], as social media post shows him and his first ex-girlfriend.

Medikal’s candid admission offered a glimmer into the complexities of balancing personal life with a public persona, describing life as a superstar who can’t control a lot of things out there when bloggers misquote him or change his narratives.
“There are a lot of things you can’t control”, reminding his fans of the importance of self-care and family.
The artist, who has been in the limelight for both his music and his dramatic relationship history, made it clear that while he is moved on, he and his ex-wife, Fella Makafui have agreed to co-parent their daughter, Island.
Prior to that, his ex-wife Fella Makafui had issued a statement announcing the end of their four-year marriage, dated May 18, 2024, highlighting the decision was made a few months earlier and they had been waiting for their families to finish the necessary customary divorce rites.
Medikal Not Featuring Any Artist in 2025

The Ghanaian rapper revealed that he is not going to feature any artist in 2025; not even his friend Shatta Wale.
He outlined his music plan for the new year.
When asked if he would not feature his good friend, Shatta Wale, Medikal responded “Akyedudu” which means, “he’s a lawyer by himself.”
The conversation exposed the chemistry and mutual respect between Medikal and Shatta Wale in their future interaction collaborations.
Medikal also shared that he doesn’t take money for a feature and that in 2025 he would rather focus on himself and his upcoming EP.
In the meantime, Medikal is preparing for a hangout concert at the Ghud Park (Accra Mall) on December 26, 2024, at 6 pm. The concert is said to be headlined by Medikal and Shatta Wale.
Moreover, Medikal addressed his recent post regarding his 2021 arrest.
Following the December 7, 2024 elections, in which the New Patriotic Party lost, Medikal took to his X account to accuse the NPP of embarrassing and unlawfully jailing him.
Medikal discussed his tweet and the circumstances surrounding his 2021 arrest.
“I didn’t accuse anyone, I never stole from anyone and I wasn’t brandishing anything in public. I was at home, within my own walls. It’s not like I was chasing anyone with it.”

He went on to emphasize that brandishing a weapon doesn’t apply to someone taking a picture of a licensed firearm inside their own home.
Medikal described his arrest and subsequent imprisonment as both “inhuman” and “unjust”.
